Hi Guys,

I have a Honda GB400 and the standard cv carb is giving me some issues, she has done 100,000km and the carb has seen better days. the standard is a keihin VE10.

Anyway I've measured up the standard CV carb and it seems to be a 40mm or a 42 depending on which orientaion you measure the venturi as it seems oval at the slide.

If I replace this with a flatslide 40mm am I going to run into issues? it seems quite large? I realise it will likely need jetting etc and im happy to work that out.

let me know if you think it will work all-right.

Thanks in advance

have a look at http://www.mikuni-topham.de/ENGLISHSITE/Carburetor_kits/Honda_English/XBR500_GB500_English/TM40-6_main.html

fitted a couple of these to hotted up gb500's when they where newish straight bolt on might just need to tweak the jets at little to suit the 400.

if your heart is set on a set of slide carb's why not base it on the Honda XR design.

A CD carb is not measured by the bore size, although the Japs do - makes it sound like a really big carb, and bigger is better. The venturi size across the mainjet bridge is the true measurement. 40mm is way too big for a 400cc single, 28mm would be fine.
