I'd say that's a fair price. Does it have a service history?

Consider that. More bike for less money and more aftermarket bits than you will ever need in the next two lifetimes

But seriously I would doubt that someone looking for a 600cc sports bike would consider a hayabusa.

A very narrow minded point of view. Go for a test ride and have your life changed.
I was dead set on a r1 when I upgraded. Had 2 FZR's before that, 1000cc and a 250cc. Decided to try a busa and the idea of owning a R1 was out the window.
Anyone that says you can't corner a busa needs to ride one or learn to ride properly.

Was reading up on some bits on Busas. Remember they were saying about the 180 tyre and running short linkage plates to lift the rear an inch which steepened the head angle to help turn in. I think that was for track day use.
Im planning my future Busa.

This sounds very interesting. Can you provide me a link?
As for the OP, buy what you want. WHAT YOU WANT.
Others can recommend everything they think you should buy but at the end of the day, BUY WAHT YOU WANT.

Was on Hayabusa.org. also read something about running a gen 2 rear shock in a gen 1 as they were a bit longer and had stiffer valving and spring.

For all the tards without experience or first hand knowledge spoofing on about porky, fat, ect ect Busas.
On my Gen 1 06 Busa, with a little fooling around setting up STANDARD suspension, I have done 44's on Ruapuna for shits and giggles, was it hard work? yes, not fun and fast like any of my racebikes, but: there will be few if any, keyboard warriors on KB that could punt their 600 whatever and get even close to that (dedicated racers with practical Busa experience excluded) . As a laptime it is slow, but it was for shits and giggles, and if I took it seriously I could knock some off that, but it wasn't the point.
Do not base your opinion on seeing unskilled posers, or unwilling to fang it JUST for you to see riders, or people who only want to cruise it. There are sensible limits to how fast most are willing to ride in the real world anyway
If you have never riden a Busa, and put it through it's paces in twisty stuff, you have no right to comment negatively on the Mighty Hayabusa. If you have, and still need to bag the Busa, you will be shit at setting a bike up and be a shit rider to boot, and no doubt every bike you have ever had will have been lacking, while you of course, are just MAJESTIC in your AWESOMENESS.
No special shock needed, no special linkages needed, no clever triple clamps, learn the technique you bike requires first.

Crasherfromwayback will flog most of us on an 883, which does not handle like a 600cc sports bike.

The usual. GSXR600, R6 and CBR600RR. You can search for reviews here (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/mcn/bikereviews/) to get a rough idea on the individual bikes. If that doesn't help you narrow it down, then go and test ride them all and see what you like the most. Another thing to note, is make sure you check the frame to find out the actual model year rather than looking on the vehicle license label, certificate of registration etc which is often hopelessly inaccurate since sports bikes can change a lot between the model years and the NZTA muppets can't even get the manufactured year right a lot of the time (like on my GSXR).

As Smokey said.
I enjoy how the Kawasakis ride, they always tend to have very balliststic feeling motors :niceone:
For the money, however, I would just buy a 675 Daytona, or street triple (worth trying, huge fun.)

For my thinking that is a fair ballpark number, it's all about the variables that you can see. Tyres, servicing, how has it been looked after in general, paintwork tidy and original etc? Low mileage suggests it's been a weekend toy, so should look pristine.
In the end, buy the bike that you yourself feel good about. In a year or three you'll be doing the same thing again...
As for the Busa comments made by others, I've had a few bikes, and now own a 2013 ABS Busa. Nothing like a 600cc sporty of course, but heck the Busa will corner quite nicely thank you very much. Stock standard, suspension set to my liking, decent tyres...all them Yanks on the Busa forums are dead set on modifying the hell out of bikes that don't need it...

Yip, fair comments. Everything is origional and was used as a commuter for the one year its been on the road. Super tidy with very slight mark or two. Im sure I will put heaps more on it. Tyres are origionals and are flat so will prob change them for a used race set. Pick it up tonight in the wind and rain

Tail bag and tank bag, eg Oxford are best on a sports bike imo as pack racks ruin the looks and handling.

If you use a Ventura rack and sit the pack on the pillion seat it shouldn't affect the handling too much. And IIRC that's what the instructions say. That assumes you are travelling solo of course. Also you don't have to buy a Ventura pack, other people make packs to fit. Some guys use the rack to mount a small pack for local rides, big eenough to hold a hat, camera and sunglasses or whatever. Handy.
If the quality of the Oxford stuff is OK these days, that would be a good solution. Givi probably do something too.
Having tried several options over the years, next time I'm in the market I'd consider the tail packs from these guys:

Thanks for the link, was just what I was after, and due to the exchange rate being so good I bought a us 20. Will see how it works out. Also bought some front and rear lift stands from torpedo7 on special for bugger all if any one else is in the market for some.

You run out of tyre pretty quickly is using a wee 180 on a ' Busa or ' 14. 190/55 gives the best of both worlds and there's a huge selection of decent tyres to choose from.

I think that it is a reasonable price for the bike. Not the score of the century, but certainly a sharp deal.
Oh and to add my 2c...I would rather ride the ZX6r than a Busa in NZ...and my frame at 6ft3 fits a Busa much better.
