Hello Im new to this forum so would like to get some feedback..Im from South Africa and have been ridding since i was a baby. My family are all riders and are part of different Bike clubs..my step dad is vice pres of the hell razors and my mother sectary..friends are Iron order,Gypsy Jokers ect..Im looking at coming up with a new club over here not gang but for people that like to go on breakfast runs,rallies and club meets..I want to follow proper club rules,ranks and patches. What i don't know is how other mcs will take this..I have 5 guys keen so far some with partners.

If you're running a 3 piece with rockers and territory on it, then you'll have to run it by the clubs in Auckland, depends where you are, e.g. Headhunters out ellerslie etc.

If you're just a social club with a single piece patch then you shouldn't have a problem, the MC's know the difference. If you're running a 3 piece, you'll have to get "permission".

Not concrete but what I have been told by a few bike club members.

Are you for real?? You want to start your own club after just coming to the country and you have no idea how things work here. Why not find an already established social club and start riding with them? Find out how things work, what goes on. Then after some time, when you have an idea come back to your original idea if you still recon it is needed. Tell us what area you are considering and I am sure that you can be told what is already available there. And somehow I think the Gypsy Jokers might not appreciate being mentioned in the same sentence as Iron Order...

The level of Maori content relects the import of the Maori in New Zealand, and I'm very sorry if that doesn't meet your standard. I'm not sure how you can't find a school that focuses one culture (when New Zealand is obviously made up of so many diverse subcultures) anything but racist.

I'm not sure how that was racist. I attended mainstream New Zealand schools and they were thoroughly mono-cultural. That is not to say that there weren't people of different cultures who attended the school, and we even examined other cultures as part of the schooling. However, the cultural practices, ethics, values, family models and language were entirely what you have termed 'kiwi' and what I have labelled 'white man immersion'.

Those schools force one culture as much as Māori immersion schools do.

Point is, you don't need to fear Māori immersion schools, or overlook the culturally immersive environments within mainstream New Zealand schools.

New Zealand as a whole is fairly representative of this arrangement too. While there are people of many cultures who LIVE here, you cannot say that the cultural norms of all of those people are represented within the social structures or norms within our society. I can't even imagine how this would be possible when lots of them would be mutually exclusive.

Look if you want to encapsulate an entire culture by the couple of parts that are distasteful to you, that's fine - but don't pretend it's an accurate description of pre-European life for Māori. I could easily pull up a couple of distasteful aspects of our current social environment and use that as the basis to write off the whole lot, but it would not be accurate, fair or correct.

The difference is that my beliefs don't encourage me to kill anyone who is gay, has sex outside of marriage, doesn't believe in my faith etc. I'm quite tolerant of the religious beliefs of others, as long as those beliefs don't tell the believers to kill me or anyone else, purely based on an outdated book written well over 1000 years ago.

I am by no means a supporter of religious and cultural extremism, and I don't hold a grudge for acts done against "my people" generations ago. So do I. But if you're prepared for the gory truth, look at what goes on in Pakistan, Somalia, Sudan (those are the worst cases), ALL IN THE NAME OF ISLAM. These people don't go around cutting off heads, hands and feet just because they feel like it, it's 100% because of their religious beliefs. It's not just a minority of people that support this, but the governments actually specifies the death penalty for many things that are considered normal or acceptable in NZ (sex outside of marriage, gays, criticism of religion etc). How many of us in NZ have done at least some of those things?
