View Full Version : Paying it forward: Ninja 300 Cup

Alrighty then…. This is a follow on to what I had discussed in another thread.

http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/163522-Creating-opportunities-Ninja-300-Swan-Series-Australia

I am putting together a ride for Bailie Perriton (with the help of several other people) to compete in the FX Ninja 300 series in Australia to compete alongside myself in the Australasian Superbike and FX Superbike Championship.

http://www.fxsuperbikes.com.au/?p=2914

I have opened a bank account that is solely for the fundraising efforts for this project

ANZ - 06-0545-0355004-02

So far we have Bailies flights covered - ESPC Services (Geoff Kelly)
Entry Fees - Terry Oneil
Garage Hire - Terry Oneil
Insurance - Terry Oneil

We have purchased a bike for $3200 au. The bike has done 1500km and it is a 2014 model. It has a high race screen and a Two Bros Exhaust. The reason it was cheap was thanks to http://www.adrenalinpb.com.au/

We have been donated parts for the bike:

Clip on bars: www.racesupplies.co.nz
Rear sets: www.racesupplies.co.nz
Race kitted forks: Kiwistars Racing

Parts still required:

Shock $1300
Fairings and paint: $1500
Chain, Sprockets, Brake Lines, Race Pads, Crash Protectors, Shark Fin etc $1000

My goal is to get this bike paid for this year so next year the bike can be offered to another upcoming rider through a selection program. I doubt I will be able to raise enough funds just by donations so I also have another option. If someone is willing to put in $5000 they will effectively own the bike and it will come with all the gear on it so it will be worth about $7000. Part of the deal though would be that the bike would need to be available for the next rider in 2015 as well.

At the moment the only person that has expressed interest in the $5000 deal is Robbie Bugden. The deal I have with him would be slightly different. He would want to control the bike for 2015 but he wants to do basically the exact same thing for a NZ rider. His partner who is a Kiwi racer and ranked number 3 in the ASBK womans class last year would use the bike to do some club races. Robbie is actually really excited about it as well. If we are lucky enough for him to become involved he will open up lots of other possibilities for gear sponsorships for the rider, helmets, signwriting etc through his sponsors.

If you are happy to donate it would be greatly appreciated. I will email a statement each week to anyone who donates money and provide a list of costs etc so everything is up front. Please send me your email address if you would donate any money and use any reference you want.

If you would like to contact me please email me sloanfrostracing@hotmail.com

Bad News: My Lap Top was involved in an accident that killed it
Good News: It Was Insured
Better News: Insurance Paid Out
Best News: The New Lap Top was cheaper than my old one.....

SO: I have a little donation to go towards the fund so Bailie can race in Aussie.

(I did downgrade a little.... my old lap top was pretty flash...)

As I have said Shaun the commitment you have shown towards this little project has been a major motivator for me. It would be great to be completely NZ owned but Robbie has some really good ideas and contacts so either way it is going to help out some young guys.

Here ya go guys, thank you to those that have made a contribution already. We all have our own bikes to run and race so to put a few bucks in towards some one elses project is greatly appreciated!

As I have said the bike has already been purchased and id like to pay back the loan on that but the next goal is to get some fairings. This is the final piece of the puzzle to get the bike on the track because almost all other parts have been donated.

http://www.wet4uracing.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=792

Fairings are $895au + $95au delivered so the first goal is to raise $1200 and then we are guaranteed to be on the track at round 1!

I am making a special trip over to Melbourne to prep the bike for round 1 at the end of the month.

PLEASE DONT FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE TO COMPETE WITH THE OTHER DONATIONS. $5 - $10 - $20 DONATIONS ARE FINE, EVERY DOLLAR HELPS :scooter:

Run with Robbie and his plan then mate, you have started some thing here that will encourage more action for future riders, and FX series in oz is only going to grow bigger.

I will just put the parts I mentioned on trade me and spend the money on my family.

let me know re the forks asap though, so I do not list them on trade me

Bloody good on you for creating this opportunity for a young rider mate, hope to see you at Taupo

The Robbie deal is far from done but I like the sound of you looking after your family first mate. You obviously have a huge passion for motorcycle racing but family has to come first

Just had some great news! We have a title sponsor for the bike so we are going to be able to offer the bike as a Scholarship Award for 2015 as well.

"Fujitsu Scholarship"

I still need to raise about another $1000 to get the bike to full race spec but we have the finish line in sight that is for sure!

Thank you all for you support

Possibly Miriam. I havnt confirmed that but because of Robbies involvement it would probably be a good option but I would put it to all the sponsors

Thanks again guys, have had a couple more donations and we are $400 away from our goal!

I shot over to Australia for the weekend and got a few minutes to spend on the bike. Its a beauty!! Fairings should arrive in about a week and so should a box of goodies from NZ. The time is ticking by fast but we will be on track at round one for sure!!

And both fast! I would love to see NZ Jake lewis on a 600 in the same race as USA Jake Lewis, even spider would struggle with calling that race

just have to polish up my accents...
it was hard enough when we had two glen williams, even though they never hit the track at the same time...

Was a good day's racing, big fields in all classes Ninja 300's were great to watch, Superbikes had a huge field with all the factory teams there & Sloan did very well, Sophie has raced at Wakefield a number of times & she is getting better all the time. A good crowd turn out despite the cold wind made for a good day - had free tickets & live less than half hour from the track, was top day
