I would be keen for that - when i said i dont want to ride to a pub is - I dont drink and dont like riding with people who have been, but if it is a decent ride and stop for lunch somewhere then all good.

Todays ride to Kaikoura - awesome the weather started out foggy but was gone by Woodend. Turned out nice and warm.
Leader Rd was good but a wee bit of gravel - was posted but not all the way. Changed to 100kmh and still gravel for another km.
Had a good feed in Kaikoura and a good ride home along the coast. Traffic heavy but well behaved.

In all a great day - pity more people didnt come along. Thanks for the company Shoshoni.

Will be having a ride on Anzac day for those who dont want to go on the St John ride. Weather dependant.

Meet at the Peg at 10:30

Have to keep an eye on http://maps.aa.co.nz at the moment it's saying the Cones Rd Bridge in Rangiora is closed from flooding.
There's also one for Rakaia River Bridge but I don't think they'll be working on a bjeus holiday.

Awesome day for it Sat. Hope you made it out. I only got as far as a run around the hills on that day but with everyone away on holiday traffic was sparse (notably absent were those pesky groups of push bikes).

J and I visited the beach where the Coast to Coast starts then nipped down the road to Hokitika for afternoon tea before returning home.
It was a little weird, heaps of cars etc parked at various towns and parking areas along the way but the moving traffic itself felt very light and when we actually had other vehicles near us it all flowed well.
Fantastic weather both sides of the island if a little cool once the sun set.
Home about 7:30pm.

Hey Bushman, cheers and yes i am enjoying the change, been a while since i last owned a bike with clip-ons so adjusting to the
riding position is a small challenge more noticeable when going over to Akaroa as its giving me a bit of neck strain having to tilt
my head up more especially when going uphill. Time in the seat and it'll be all good

Glad I took the Busa and not the DR, I have to agree on the wind on the way to Waiau was bad on the way back from Cheviot was worse.

Today is better than expected so hopefully Sunday is going to be good - maybe very windy. What time shall we head out for the ride?

Was a great ride today - a nice quiet cruise. A tad cool heading to Rakia gorge but warmed up nicely by the time we got to Sheffield - where we stopped and tried some of there nice pies. Quite a few bikes out enjoying the good weather. A lot of Harleys out but most were parked up outside coffee shops for there coffee and muffin.
As the weather gets better we will be heading out for a lot more decent day rides so get off your chuffs and come along.
Some rides coming up soon are
The block
Mt Cook

Both nice quiet day rides.

Thanks again Shoshoni for another great day.

Next weekend (not this coming one), I mean the 18th and/or 19th October could be good for me, busy other weekends around that and next month may be a bit patchy for me too.
Be keen for the block but Mt Cook could be ok too. I am aware lots of people go to the West Coast for Labour Weekend races so they may not be so keen for Big Block so close to that but I will be elsewhere for Labour Weekend so I am keen.

Sorry, but don't include everyone in that. It's good the Busa bunch are great riding mates & get long so well, but you're riding style & life isn't for all (and that's a good thing, no one wants to be told how to do anything, right?)

Some have to organise with others, or have to justify the longer trips, or have a destination in mind, or a trip longer than a day. Some plain can't keep up with Busas (me ) or just don't want to ... Doubt you'd want to be held back by my stops to get rid of the old age creaks if I did come along, either. Didn't stop me doing almost 1000ks out of town in last month - but not with the Busa club, so it didn't count. :innocent:

Most of the weekend rides I have been doing have been on the DR and that isn't setup for open road speeds and I'm in no hurry to get there, I'm out to enjoy the scenery, company of my fellow riders and the ride itself, and if someone in the group wants to ride ahead that's fine I don't have a problem with that I know they will slow down and wait for me to catch back up with them.

Coming back from an adventure ride yesterday there was a cop parked on the verge of the overtaken lane by Liethfield, watched all the cars speed up then on come the lights lol dirty tactics.

If you're going around the block on Sunday you may want to watch some of the street racing at Greymouth. Just letting you know it's on in case you didn't already.

The roads were great but the weather wasnt. We went to Springs to Murchison had lunch(was warm there) started to head to Westport. Got to the junction and saw the rain coming so headed to Reefton and got a wee bit of rain in Lewis, quickly outrun that and cruised home. Had to stop again at Culverden to stretch the legs like last time. Traffic was light and one cop all the way until Liethfield on way home where a car had rolled. In all we had a great ride. Will try the ride again on a warmer day. Come along on the next one Nathan.
Glad your day went well.

Massive number of bikes (and Police, and random four wheeled vehicles) out and about today.
Stooged out to Little River for an ice cream.
More fun than thrashing around in the garden

Could prolly do Sunday,

Sunday's weather wasn't looking good with the possibility of rain.

Ended up being a good ride, felt like a longer ride or it was the extreme heat every time we stopped.
We did Culverden, Leader Valley (there's still little patches of grit) to Cheviot were we stopped for some lunch then of to Gore Bay, Scargill Valley then home.

Any idea what sort of distances we would be looking at between fuel stops?

My DR tank only holds about 200k's worth.. I haven't tested it yet but that's what people seem to Recken they can get at very max..

200BUSA

Plenty of petrol stops. 100km max usually.

I think I should probably give this ride a miss but am damn keen to get out with you guys next week or so!

I will skip this one as I'm still a bit green to the motorcycle scene with just over 1,000ks under my belt so far.
I have done the AkaroaGP a couple of time and loved the hell out of it.
My helmet doesn't quite fit my head as well as it should and I'm still learning to trust my bike and tyres.

The last thing I want to do is to be a hinderance to the group if I am a bit slower through through the technical sections or the fact my bike is geared to happily sit at 100/110km/h but not much more than that or I will be constantly trying to use that fantom 6th gear on the DRZ. that and I'm a good little boy and don't want to get a ticket from fuzz:mellow:

Couple of questions for when I do participate..

How many riders can be expected? roughly
What is the average cruising speed of the group when out in the open?

Cheers!

All good Benign-Buz We never know whos going to turn up on the rides. Speed on the ride is the speed limit or to the road conditions. Rides like this are good for any one. Not the usual Akaroa GP(boring doing same road) or the Wed night ride which seems to be the same every week and is pretty much dead now.
Get your helmet sorted and if you want to ride -just post up here or text on numbers in OP. Cheers.
