View Full Version : Blown oven fuse?

Had the main fuse in my place blow yesterday evening. An electrician replaced the blown fuse and now have power back.

Problem is that the oven was going at the time and the element in the oven won't work.

Fan, grill element and lights plus range top all work, just no heat in the oven.

Does anyone know if I'll need to replace the whole element or is there an internal fuse that can be replaced/reset?

( Oven is a Fisher and Paykel 'Thyme' model. )

Cheers,

Buzzard.

only fuse on that oven would be one for the power points on the side. If grill still works sounds like you are probably up for an element unless a wire has burnt off.

It sounds like a new element is required here :(

Rheostat burnt out causing the fuse in the switchboard to blow, check your rheostat.:devil2:

Thanks for the replies all.

I just rang the electrician and it sounds like what Unstuck said might have happened ( oven caused main fuse to blow  )

That bloody oven has been nothing but trouble, might be time for a new one me thinks.

Brand recommendations anyone... ?

A registered and sensible electrician would have tested the element on the range before he left. If the short that blew the fuse caused the whole range to be live ...

My guess is .. you got what you didn't pay for .... Help (???) ... that might have killed you ... <_<
