GN clanging noise

Hey, whenever I accelerate on my GN everything sounds fine, but whenever I decelerate, especially in 3rd gear or higher, I hear a knocking noise that sounds like metal striking on metal. That was never there before. Any idea what that could be?

On a GN? Check your chain is adjusted correctly - this bike appears to be singled out as having owners who neglect their chains! I hear so many clanging along and see rusted chains on them.
