Has anyone had/seen many re-occuring problems with the '95 ZX6R's.
"Its how you ride not what you ride?" easily understood, but, just wondering if there were many/any common issues anyone may have expierenced?

Rare issue with the frame cracking near the cylinder heads on the inside edge... mainly with thrashed bikes (ie raced and wheelied). But very few.

3 out of 4 people who own ZX6's that I know also own Kawasaki dirt bikes of some sort.

Huge problem that. Could be catching.

put the <s>orange</s> green-eyed monster away..

Can vouch for skunk. Just fixing up a '95 ZX6 myself cos some dork split the frame from a wheelie. Both sides, a few inches back from where the frame bends to go to the head, just above the block as mentioned.

Aside from that, they're said to have pretty strong engines, and handle pretty well. Don't know first hand yet, but hope to soon! (hint hint 6pb)

Haha. No. But we could make that 4 out of 5 if you like?

this one has done about 64,000 I think.. it's also got aftermarket cams, full titanium Muzzy system, and I think the internals have been flowed, but not totally sure. The rear tyre is square, so it has some xtra ponies in there I guess.. and the frame 'just split whilst I was riding' *cough* bs fat bastard *cough*.. So as much as it could have been abused, it was well looked after

I've had no problems with my 96 zx6. Done a bit over 90,000km's now, and it's still running smooth.

Well, I have a 97 ZX6R Only problem I had was the first day I got it I didn't realise the power! Went too fast into the driveway and parked up on the grass, of course it had to be a rainy day so the stand sunk in the grass and the bike fell on top of me when I lost my footing. So apart from the jack slipping off the frame and denting the petrol tank and cracked left hand side fairing the bike is really awesome to ride.
Only downer is no fuel gauge and I've done it more than twice running the tank dry and walking to the nearest petrol station.
Put it down to being new to a big bike and being female *blushes*

Flaky wheel paint, faulty camchain tensioners (c16k km), loose head bearings, carb icing.

I had a '98G1, great bike but head bearings went on mine. If you want to ask c1000 Ninja owners try www.mcnninjas.co.uk

Haven't had an issue with head bearings.

Might look at this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbikes/Sports/auction-86572854.htm for a friend.

Anything I should watch out for?

Looks like the frame has been done, so just the usual. Disc thickness, wheel and steering head bearings, oil leaks, rust on tank, etc, as you know.

I had one, a 97, last of the F models (F3). It was awesome. I'd buy another just like it no questions asked.

The only thing I'd recommend is trying a similar year GSXR600. Heaps heaps more hooligan (sound, riding position, looks). Might suit you better, might not, but definitely try one. I'd hate to have to choose between them.
