Does anyone know where the Honda 50, Number 4 Bike raced at Ohakea around 1996-98 may have ended up.
It had a full white Fairing when I owned it.
I would love to know of it's history after I sold it around 1988ish.

I made the Disk. Ziffle was racing a 100 back then, he cost me a Collarbone once 8-(
I used to work at MotoRecycle and ran a trio of MB50s, Chris Sayle (UK) raced one and the 3rd Bike was raced by whoever turned up on the day.

Always worth asking, you never know what people have stashed away!
It's getting rare to see 50's at events although they do seem to be having a bit of a resurgence.

You should come and have a watch/play sometime...

Heya Murray, Dave Trustrum here. Yeah my mate Matt bought that. The mono shock conversion was a bit soft and he lost pace. He's got bikes all over the place but unless it's still at his parents I'm afraid it will be gone. RG50s just made them all obsolete. Even I had to jump ship eventually. As did DaveDip.

I'd bought Chris's brothers bike but can't remember his name. Mike, oh I guess I can. Chris and Kate's bikes disappeared and I lost touch with them.

Hiya Dave, had a Haircut yet??

Chris & Kate married here in NZ then departed for the UK where they got unmarried. Kate returned to NZ and Chris remained in the UK. He's on Facebook but hasn't responded to my contact request yet. Where does it all happen these days? might come and have a look.

Yeah Kate was writing the odd thing for newspaper but no idea where now. I'd caught up with Chris last in 02 at Philip Island when he was with Padgetts and again at a messy night in wgtn when he was back, but not since.

. . . . just it might be somewhat more grey flecked than back then;)

I could wear the same jeans I bet. Just not breath much. Or sit down.

I think that was wadding over a reasonable area of abrasion from when Ray took my front wheel out the day before. It wasn't attractive. I had to administer quite a bit of painkiller in the mess that evening. Only to have another fall on the way home when they stopped the car so I could have a leak. City kid didn't realise they put ditches on the side of roads.

Nope, back then it was a Honda CB1100FD and a BMW K100 on the Road, a Honda TLR250 Trials Bike in the Dirt/Rocks/Trees etc as well as various others. An orange & white Kombi Van was the Tow Wagon of choice. I think at one stage Chris & I had 18 Bikes parked up in the Workshop ...

Mark's CB125 was the first Bucket I rode back at Carrs road back in the early to mid nineties, did one race on it at Wigram as well at the last meeting held there after Him and Tony Mac bullied me into it

Those Pants belong to the lovely Mrs Smith, Ziffle's Wife. Sorry, but can't remember her name.

The Stretcher case was one of two, an unfortunate head-on due to the race speed exceeding the Track design. Broken Wrist and very sore Testicles for Mr Sayle, (should have seen the dent in the Tank). The other guy, (Len I think), had a sit-up style of riding and ended up with broken Ribs courtesy of Mr Sayle's Helmet.

I think that is Dave DiProse and Dave Trustrum looking on as well. Anyone crashing badly at Ohakea was introduced to Morphine as the first response. Wonderful stuff, you know that you are bent and broken but actually don't really give a damn. I can see how some people become addicted to it.

More Photos to come once I get around to scanning the Negatives . . . Wigram, Woodburn & Ohakea. There was a Whakatane GP that I raced one year as well, no photos though.

one of the funniest things I've seen is at a GP when Chris crashed over a curb and into a tree a mate Mike who's nice but not the sharpest tool ran up to him. "How many fingers am I holding up?"
"Tuesday?"

Oh yeah. Think your old pointy tailpiece went on my 50. I made a squarer end as was more fashionable at the time to graft on. Using a shoebox as a buck and fibreglassing directly over it then onto the tailpiece.
Transferred it to my RG for several years. Then I saw a video from behind and saw how much of my arse was showing and yes it did make it look big. Regan made me an RS125 one which I'm still using.

Just been looking at some old pics, may try to get them to a scanner but work has been silly lately so my desire to stay longer is minimal.

a couple of anecdotes I was sharing at the GP this year with DaveDip (his son did the double F4/F5 win) was the time he showed up from Auckland and his tank was missing.

the other trailer one was when you lot showed up with an open wheel trailer that has used it's tyre to chew through one of the race bike tyres that had moved enroute. Kate was explaining " this isn't the first time this has happened.. . [then a quote I've remembered 25years and probably the next 25]. . "Thrice bitten Once shy".

I painted Mark's trials bike frame there. Fantic? Two pot polyurethane with a teatowel wrapped around my face. Still picking bits of red snot out of my nose.

Actually now that I think about it he'd borrowed one of his mates garages, a concrete one car bunker.

I remember his Ossa, I had a KT at the time. If I recall correctly he then got one of them flash new Fantics, and I think it was a GG that I painted but shit it was a long time ago.

I had a ride on a Fantic a couple of years ago, the last of them, (340?) I came away thinking I'd quite like one for a trail bike but compared to a modern trials bike it was a Kenworth.
