More Pics to come, but it takes time to Scan, Crop & resize them for the Forum.

The AC50 is my first bucket racer, watercooled cylinder, no waterpump just thermosyphon, home made CDI, this was before they were readily available at a price anyone could afford, up high exhaust that exited under the seat through a titanium muffler (thank you 3 squadron), 2 little boost ports combined using needle files over more than a week, modified disc valve, LOADS of compression, and the most flexible frame I've ever ridden, and wheels from a factory A100 race kit. The Honda was Jason Fletcher's later Tonto's. I was in Oz by then but he rode it at Wanganui and impressed a few from all accounts.

I just double checked and it still has the low pipe on it. The CDI was triggered from the original points and the rotor was removed and a battery was fitted to run the ignition. The ignition could easily throw a 10mm big fat spark, probably a bit over the top but it never fouled a plug.

I thought that looked like Pete on the Honda. He had a cam chain failure one year about 50m from the finish line and I just pipped him for 3rd I think it was as he coasted over the line.

Def bikes and riders I remember. Dave D in considerably better condition leathers than when I owned them.

Hmm, Ram I think. That sales guy from Honda. Others I can't name.

got pics near scanner today but ran out of time.

1986 to 1989 if you had a Bucket and you were there, you raced, end of story . . .
I didn't realise that we had anything recorded on paper Dave.

I've still got a few original Trophies somewhere, constructed on Air Force time of course.

Found them.

Front two are from Ohakea 1986

Rear are Ohakea 1988, Vic Club 125 Racing, and a rather endearing one in 1987 from Ziffle and the Ohakea Crew.

At the 1987 Ohakea GP, the MB50 #4 shattered a Piston in the 50GP, then I was too shattered to continue the 100GP and pulled out. To top it all off, the Kombi threw a Rod through the Block on the way from Palmy to Ohakea on the Sunday morning. (The tailgating white Holden Commodore covered with 4 Litres of hot Oil almost made it worthwhile).
I was awarded the Trophy with the inimitable comment from Ziffle that; "I should have stayed at Home and played with my Marbles".

The 125 Racing Class Trophy was won over 6 Races at 3 Meetings by default; MB50 #4 was the only Bike to finish all 6 Races!

Worthly of note, Dave Dip has a complete record of all GP winners. He kindly sent it to me a few years back and they are loaded on our website.

I'am curious about number 3 with the yokahoma stickers, any info on frame etc?

This thread is awesome, love the simplicity of these bikes, basic as can be.

Anyone got pics or a programme from the bucket racing in the evening at the first WSB round at Manfield ? i went along for a look as i was there for the weekend and it was amazing. Even the overseas riders watching thought so...

Hard to do an evening street circuit now - but as a way of raising awareness for the weekend's racing it still can't be beaten IMO.

Hello,

I came across these pictures of the two riders, (Brent and Mary Kaye) and they are an old friends of mine. They have moved years back and I'm trying to get in contact with them. Would you or anyone have any contact information on either one of them.

Been a long time since I rode or saw the brakeless wonder that was the 21 bike.

I remember riding it at a race meet when they let the buckets out for a race on the short circuit while the others were having lunch.

Backing off the throttle to just below the point I could hear valve bounce on the main straight. Going through the chicane with it pinned in top gear hoping the Yokohama’s wouldn’t let go!

Trying to sleep before the Wigram GP while Murray imitated a chainsaw at full chat.

Fun times.
