Just more reason not to bother with WOF/rego.

Fucksakes what did you expect, even Ken Ring predicted this correctly.

Did you read the article? The only increase in costs to current WoF inspectors is an additional 95c per label. So thats definitely gonna put the price up a shitload right?

Ribit

So cars older than 2000 should be charged less since they have to get warrants twice a year? wouldnt that be nice

Be grateful for a WOF/annual inspection. At least 40% of vehicles here wouldn't be considered roadworthy in NZ.

Yes other countries can be sketchy but as they showed on Fair go this week, vehicles here get a warrant if theyre road worthy or not. Cheers VTNZ

Yeah I did, some whinger said he'd be putting prices up by $25 for no real reason. Prices to become a WoF testing place have gone up, who cares? That's hardly gonna affect everyone already in the game!

Were they actual safety issues? or Fair Go pedantry?

I don't care if I pay more for yearly ones - they are a pain in the arse so once a year suits me.

Got one on the bike 2 weeks ago $40. Fuck all gets checked.

They were issues that as stated in the guide lines book should not of passed the test, Here (http://tvnz.co.nz/fair-go/all-wofs-created-equal-video-6105486)is the clip about it (sorry for the tvnz link)

By the book the last 10 (at least) warrants I've got should have failed. The book is a crock of shit, just like that fair go story. I mean FFS, if it was a safety issue their tester, their driver, and their company should be taken to court for knowingly driving or encouraging driving of a dangerously roadworthy vehicle (as I saw no truck loading/unloading that car at the testing station).

Fair Go would not like my motorcycle that gets a WOF each year.

Modified suspension, modified exhaust, modified footrest mounts ....... no certification. Bikes are good.

My local WOF guy has a footrest and wheelbearing thing. Likes to ride around the building with no helmet testing the brakes....apart from the Norton, he wont ride that.

...prices rise...some other body or bodies have vested interests in making that happen...it's a long time since a crate of Bavarian stubbies was $2.99 and a tank of gas cost $10.00, an oz was $25 and a policeman wasn't there to make money for the govt...those days are long gone...get over it...a lot of you have given up your right to moan by not voting for the least vile of the shitheap or on the other hand voted in the cunts that now unquestionably have the nations goodwill at heart, as they condone the new order...

Yeah, we should give the government more control over these matters - back when the price of a WoF was set by the government nobody dared complain about the price of a WoF...too bad if you made a loss doing them. Actually it was pretty good, when a WoF was $5 and the charge out rate was $20, I'd line them up and fire 4 through in half an hour.

Fair Go was bullshit - the mirror was a non issue, the oil mist on the rack is not a powersteering leak...I think the only thing that was a definite fail was the brake hose.

Surely for a lot of places the WOF test is just a way of finding work to do....

He says daft things like " the gears are on the wrong side and upside down" then asks me if the brakes work " I got here didn't I"
He would not be able to start it anyway :woohoo:

Bastards!
Great option...just a shame that some of us live in heavily policed cities tho.

I rode into a WOF/REGO check point the other week...Honestly thought an armed gunman was loose in my street!...big cop truck, three cars, Half dozen officers, and the same at the other end of the street!!...even said to the officer..."over kill much?...only thing your missing is the Armed Defenders squad!!" (I honestly got such a shock at the MASSIVE police presence, I was tempted to blow right past the cop and check on my family!...yeah!, THAT would have gone down well!)

On a good note, the nice officer gave me diversion for my rego being out by nearly 2months (Got off paying the fine after going to station, then posting the usual crap away to be processed :2thumbsup)

Not having REGO/WOF is simply no longer an option to most...the new ANPR cameras will definitely see to that! (Witnessed a popo in the servo on sunday "training" his new ANPR unit...while watching me bake in full leathers helping a lady fix her flat pram tyre's:niceone:...why?...because someone has to give you ugly bastards a good name ;))

The article is some gimp journalist's apprentice's view of what they think might happen, to meet their requirment of an essay for their boss today.
The truth is rather more complex & the end result is that WOF's may stay at the same price, or even go down as garages go to price war to retain market share.
I personally couldnt give a toss either way & my wof' price wont be changing, as wof's represent a small & pain in the arse proportion of my business. For the number of vehicles I own, I would still be financially better off to keep my authority current if only to do my own wof's.
Dont fret Nodrog, a box of piss is still a box of piss regardless of the price of a wof.

As the sign on the wall at the local tyre shop says, "For those of you that dont understand, a box of piss is 24"
I see its the race transporter you have booked in. Ken is going to go out on a high note with that one. Its going to suck to be you.
