Seems on KB there's more rant than rides going on these days. So, if you've been on a decent ride recently post up a photo to share.

I'll start. It was scorching hot ride to Akaroa today (my outdoor weather station was reading 41 deg cel plus under direct sunlight).

Recently done a loop ride on the Ole V2K starting from New Plymouth to Levin, meet up with a mate, then over to Ashurst. Back roads to Kimbolton over to Rangiwahia popping out just north of Mangaweka, down to Hunterville.

From Hunterville via turakina valley rd to Reids hill viewpoint where picy was taken for lunch. Into Whanganui out via brunswick road to bushy park on to sh3.

Sh3 using all back roads back to New plymouth, just over 750kms for the day, all done in glorious sunshine on sticky tarmac ;)

Hard to capture it in a photo, but my bike is level. Wasn't there on purpose either  Luck would have it there was a gap there.

First off of the day was right in a gorse bush though  Got out a bit quick to be pictured in that one haha

Nice. Im not sure what it is but the older bmws look like a good option. Might work on the wifey and the camping thing. She wouldn't even get in a tent 2 years ago but shes starting to enjoy camping now and with the hard stance on speed limits some forgotten back roads and trail rides that wont bend laws become very attractive now.

I demand more rant! I suppose EJK wants me to dust my bike off and actually go ride somewhere and go take a picture of some bloody out of the way back-of-beyond place!

Shan't do it.

If'n I'm riding out to those bits, last bloody thing I want to do is stop, get off bike, fumble with new fangled tech-whatsit-doo-hickeys and reverse procedure. Much better to keep riding, harumph! :oi-grr:

Some nice pics there fellas. I'm a bit jealous to be honest.

This is the only picture I have from last summer.... too bad there isn't a better view of the mountains. Around here (Calgary) - road riding sucks, tracks are far away, but there is good dirt riding. The scenery is fantastic, but I am too scared to fall/ride into a massive puddle, river crossing or a rock.... so I never take a decent camera along. Sorry for the crap scenery pic... but it's the best I can do.

Here is a better view of things (same riding location).... however, I do not have the skill nor the balls to even attempt this. Don't know who these guys are.... but nice GasGas bikes.

Sorry, I meant a thread just for the photos you are taking, rather than one where everyone chimes in - but I now understand that's what you meant in the first place. Even I chucked in a few pix at the beginning. No worries, it's dragged out some excellent photos. :msn-wink:

Man you guys have posted some great track and road pictures lately.

This was Sunday. It was a touch icy. I'm glad there was a very experienced rider with us (group of 3), because there was a small section where 2 of us just couldn't figure it out. It was steep and icy. He had to ride our bikes up... then we did the rest. :D

Apologies for picture quality, the Blackberry doesn't have a very good camera.

The idea was to go to Tokaanu for lunch today, the Western Access road is a bit dreamy and the weather is/was awesome. Tokaanu has fuck all going on so we carried onto Turangi for fuel and headed north again to Motuoapa and stopped at the Licorice Cafe'. Headed back home via Taupo, looking back to where we had just come from, the weather was pretty grumpy looking, got home dry though. Nice round trip of 230kms in perfect conditions with an All Day Breakfast thrown in.

I'll bring a telescopic lens next time then, although the idea of those camps is often more appealing than the visual reality, so I've heard haha

Just from the carpark that was. I eyed the summit but I'm lazy, would have been walking down it in the dark and was windy as hell so next time.

At least this one is from a Pacific Island. Wife and I were in Maui and heard the Pe'ahi Challenge competition was going to happen this past Sunday. So I rented a Dualsport to get to a viewing area off a dirt road. This plan turned out to be a large fail, since they had all the access points blocked off and wouldn't even allow people on foot.

We missed this!!!!! -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AVO8kAOrA4 I was so bummed.

Anyway, pointed the bike south and we had a nice romp up to the Haleakala Crater with over 10,000ft of elevation. It was a nice BRAP up and down the crater. Plan B was to hike at the top of the crater, but that was another fail, since it was too cold due to a strong wind (ya ya Canuck saying it was cold in Hawaii).

Having said that, the riding was awesome!!! It is a very smooth and fun piece of road. :headbang:

On another note, the place I rented from "Maui Dualsport" is a.k.a. "Maui Moto" also rent a good assortment of dirt bikes including a KTM Freeride (the 250 2-stroke variety), KTM 200XCW (kind of like your EXC I believe) and KTM 300 XCW, plus DR-400s and KX140L and so on..... plus KLR 650s for the road which is what we rented. The bike performed as it should, and the company was a pleasure to deal with. :2thumbsup

Last Monday's Public Holiday (Waitangi Observed)
I went for a ride from Hamilton to Te Kauwhata, the back way through Whitikahu to Mangeteparu, left onto the Morrinsville-Tahuna Road, then left at Tahuna towards/past Te Hoe to Waikare Road.

These photo's are of Lake Waikare :) Such a fun ride

Only to Blenhole and back, via Rarangi, but first time out of Pictown on two wheels since farkin January. Ride was way too short, but better than nada and not a bad wee bike all and all.

360kgs of pure offroad manoeuvrability right there!

Mind you it handled the deep-ish shingle in the south Rarangi park well all things considered. Hitting bumps mid corner with a lean on was another story

It's only subpar Aussie landscapes, but went for a nice loop ride through the east NSW countryside the other week with a mate:

On the final night of my South Island road trip I stayed in Picton. The people in the unit next to me were on the piss and made a shit load of noise throughout the night. So in the morning I made sure I was as loud as possible to help out their hangovers. I went to take a picture of the bike outside the unit as I always do and at that point realise my "neighbours" were cops. Daaaam.

Thought I would have an attempt at posting in this thread.

Not sure on the meaning of "good ride" , as in distances covered, or just an enjoyable type of good ride.

Cruising locally on a nice day riding the cute little W was an enjoyable type of good ride with these pics.

It's certainly worth braving the slow driver's who clog the road in summertime that's for sure.

+1000 ...... General Sherman - one of the biggest is believed to be over 2000..... and some as much as over 3000 years old. They've been around since times when the world population was 200 million.... less than the current population of JUST the United States.
