Amazing that a significant number of people have asked me if Im going to Paeroa to the racing next weekend (no Im not racing) and nearly all have seen it advertised on TV. Ive been the last 4-5 years and theres always a good crowd but jeez how big is it going to be this year with the advertising and whats it costing cause this is certainly the most promotion I have seen for any MC event in NZ. Good on them!!!!!!
Can't wait and hopefully for the 20th? year in a row it will be hot and fine.

Either the Adverts have been regional, or I haven't watched much TV....
That said, darn good on them!
Something has to be done to promote our sport and this investment is a darn good start!

But was it fine and hot in 1994 - I am led to believe it has never rained on Paeroa race day for the last 19 years which is what I was saying. Not how long the races have been going.

We make it a 3 day weekend away staying at a nice resort nearby. Get the hot rod and bike show Saturday at the Paeroa race track then the racing on Sunday. Always a great time.

So is Saturday worth showing up for? Normally just make my way over there on Sun morning.

Pointless starting a new thread so will ask here. I'm heading down on Saturday & need accommodation for 2 nights. Me old man is out from Blighty & flies home on the Monday, thought I would give him a fitting farewell.
Any recommendations within 45 mins or so of Paeroa? I realise that in town and around will be booked out.
Just trying to avoid wandering the web.

it rained one morning, they delayed the rqces till it cleared, a lot of riders don't even bother to take wets, they won't race in the wet as there's a lot of oil and deisel from the trucks on the front staight that would surface.

Stay in Waihi Beach. For example the holiday park. It's quiet, close to the beach (who would have thought... :)) and in the morning you can ride/drive the beautiful windy road along the Karangahake Gorge. Google said it's 28 minutes away from Paeroa.
Forgot Paeroa is on. Is it February already? Must have missed that with all the noise of my deadlines whooshing past...I'd better book my accomodation, too.

The footy club does campsites for a minimal fee. $5 a night includes Showers etc. Last time I went anyway.

Well, yeah. But that lot could take the lustre off a family trip. Especially the Buttplug.
I always wanted to open a restaurant called the Bearded Clam.
I can think of a few more but really have to go and & put a nipple on me strimmer.

Good call, months of hot dry weather followed by rain equals very dangerous conditions, even at legal speeds.
Still, the T Shirts could worth a bit in 20 years.

Oh well - roll on the 25th next year...
Sounds as though P.P.T are going to pull out all the stops to get as many former competitors together (& hopefully riding) for the event...
Mark me as there & riding...
Cheers all
