Hi guys I am new to the forums, I own a gn250 1987 (learner bike) I am in the process of getting it road legal at the moment, went for a wof at AA in New Plymouth , they have failed it due to "chassi being cut" , I don't understand because the cut doesn't effect the bikes chassis structually in any way

I have linked the picture of the cut and also a picture of the frame diagram

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks guys

Interesting.
I cut mine also but haven't got to the WOF and new plate stage yet. Bike shop has seen it and say its fine but haven't been to testing station yet.

I guess if mine doesn't pass straight off Ill need get a certificate for it.
The rear hoop was moved and welded over the top and an extra bar welded through the middle.
Maybe they wont say anything.

Fill the ends of the frame where it has been cut, either with washer welded in there or rubber grommets and try again.:2thumbsup

How do you know it doesn't affect the structure? Are you an engineer? Is the WOF agent? All he is seeing is some idiot who decided to cut parts of the frame off. You're going to need an engineer to certify it's safe.

Lol you dont need to be a engineer to know the cut doesn't effect the chassis structural strength you can clearly see if you look at the original diagram of the chassis. Have been into AA this morning and they have corrected the mistake , it has now passed :D
