We saw the first one of these we have come across yesterday as we left Whangarei heading home. Waved him no, and he left us alone. All good.

"He said the income was not great, and he would take any job paying at least $23 an hour, but it was enough to put food on the table."

$23 an hour is pretty good money for unskilled work, given the minimum wage is $14.75 per hour.

Wonder if he pays tax?

ahh. Threads of irrelevancy.

A little disappointed you didnt stop in for a cuppa and a stabbing, though.

Knew a guy who took home a couple hundy in a day doing it, consistently.

Whatever, he would have taken it straight to his dealers house instead of home.

Its all good, I feed his kids at school.

There is always next time sweetie. Just a tad occupied working and contributing to the tax fund you so freely draw from :sunny:

I got attacked by an angry window washer the other day - in Otematata for goodness sake!

I was trying to read my paper and she was getting in the way making shadows that made reading difficult!

Yeah. IRD needs to clamp down on this as Google, Facebook and the others are far too hard as they are lawyered up:lol:

The last window washer that wouldn't take no for an answer was pretty quick to leap out of the way when I nudged the car forward. He can't have had much weed at that stage.

I realised afterwards that I could have seriously hurt him and I felt bad. But not for long.

I think they've been by-lawed off that patch now.

Yeah this. I wouldn't mind actually if they did a decent job, but it usually makes it worse. Even more annoying when you've just done it yourself at a "service" station.

Window-washer Luke, 29, cleans car windscreens because he can't find another job to feed his three children.

He has worked the intersection of Great South Road and Cavendish Drive "most days" for eight years

He said he had a girl aged 6, a boy aged 4 and a 10-month-old baby daughter.

Checks out.

He was not on a benefit. "To get on a benefit you have to apply for about 20 jobs. They make it so difficult," he said.

20 job applications in 8 years sure is an outrageous expectation.

Wonder if he pays tax?

I don't.

As an after tax/ untaxed rate it's well above average in plenty of industries. I doubt he's doing anything like 40 hours a week.

Well, good on him I say. As I said earlier I'm not in the market for his skills and would be unlikely to use his service. As long as he isn't using stand-over tactics like some of them do, I kind of admire his entrepreneurial spirit, if he would rather do that than join the regular workforce I don't blame him.

Was on the bike at a big intersection a couple of weeks ago and one offered to wash my visor for me. I declined and rode off laughing.

Washing the car windows is small time sooner or later one of em will realise that the purchase of a small hand gun will net them far greater reward which in turn will offer up a market for some clever cunt to develop some big arse gas fuelled system exiting just below drivers door to smoke em:Punk:be fucking awesome really and at least something to watch at those annoying red light delays.

just add another tyre and let them cook for half an hour longer. If the fire goes out add another half litre of kero and about 1/2 kg of salt.
