Messam was injured in training twinged a hammy or knee or something early on.
He's the profession water boy and brawl fielder enterer. Messam would stuggle to get on the field anyway Sam is playing great as is Richey, Jerome and Kieran
Not sure re Slade is he the New Stephan Donald?
Naholo has started one at least but is more an impact player and is coming back from injury.
Franks is the unlucky one seems to be a professional bench warmer but I guess he can cover both loosehead and tighthead?

Can remember dad sitting up in the kitchen listening to the radio broadcast in the early hours, before tv, then a few years later, going around to the uncle's to watch b & w footage of the 63/64 tour a week after the game had been played.(took a week to get the film flown out to NZ). Winston McCarthy and Bill McLaren were the voice's of broadcasting back then.
Back to today, McCaw, will be condemned if he does not get cited, condemned if he does.

He is not even looking in his direction when the contact occurs or before.

Unfortunately, for the next week the papers are going to be full of garbage by the experts about how the AB's are at risk from this one, that one, themselves, the ref's, crowds etc. Some of these ex players have never scored so many tries, made so many tackles, as they have since they retired.

Tonight's tri-fector will be won by the strongest team - I sure hope that it will not be the referee and his team that dominate!
Australia will (as usual) win the talkfest yap yap yap yapping away at the referee!
Too much to hope for an all round performance like the Super 15 final between Hurricanes and Highlanders - almost the perfect game to watch IMO!
If Australia win tonight the whole of New Zealand will haemorrhage from every orifice for another four years (and beyond) - it will be insufferable!

A 1 point win will be because Ritchie McCaw held on too long, did not roll away, head butted, shoulder charged, took over the ref's whistle, was still on the field, according to some. I would like to see some daylight between the scores.
If Aussie do win, the sun will still come up the next morning. Just don't read the papers for the next 12 months.

Yes, I guess that's because any penalty they give within say 45 metres of the posts gives a chance at points whereas in football (the round ball one) a refs decision generally just means the opposition has to stand back 10 metres while the other team takes a free kick. A couple of ways to reduce the impact of the ref on the final score:
- Make more offences free kicks instead of penalties
- Perhaps some penalty offences (technical nature, rather than trying to seek advantage or slow the game down, are only worth two points.)
- Allow a captain to request review on decisions as they have in cricket (Yes, I know it would slow the game down). Similar deal to cricket ... you're allowed 1 or 2 unsuccesful reviews per game. (I thnk they do this in American Football).

This RWC has been, (sorry, overly cliched by now), unbelievably good for rugby, worldwide. Fuck the detractors who detest the game but who probably have passions for something a lot of us would feel cold toward.
It was not always going to be a playoff between the four better teams who are southern hemisphere teams, but it ended that way.
It will be particularly memorable for our son, a rugby freak living in the UK at the moment and our daughter who is over that way on a bit of a euro tour with two mates. They both ended up getting tickets to the Cardiff and Newcastle games, both unaware of the fact that they would be seeing each other and this next bit makes me smile...she and her two mates scored tickets to the final, four hours before kickoff...I wasn't aware of her new found love of the game, but she is now a true blue, die hard rugby freak, and very fortunate...they cost a bit too...
