My first ever wheelie was on one of them, when I was about 7. I was petrified to the pillion seat as my dad "tested" it.
Fond memories, I blame my dad for everything.:laugh:So do I. :msn-wink:

Ha. I was drooling over that. Has been traded 2 years back. Its actually a G with Daytona stickers so should have had the euro pinstripes we got. It's the model I want. Bro in law took 13yr old me pillion and made me need motorbikes in my future.
RD350B was as close as I got to a 400.
I was vieing to buy one 2, 3 years back, even bought a workshop manual, still in contact with potential seller. So still might but prices are a bit salty now.

That GT250X7 looks quite tidy too.....

Had one of those too. With TS pistons for like 275cc. Mate sold one recently. Didn't make an offer.

Certainly one of the priciest.
Seems to be a wee spate of bevelheads at the moment too

i would put it up there. only nearly bettered by a Rob North 3 or a TZ750
the only problem with the egli's was a lot were kind of ugly. They also had weird ergonomics.
This is the best one below i remember, other than the original hill climber.

I was talking to the owner a while back - saw it outside a cafe in Carterton and went back to have a look. Nice guy, quite happy for me to take a few pics and to tell me about it. Apparently first owner only put a few thousand Kms on it, decided he didn't like it and left it in a damp concrete shed.

Yeah but if you bought it, wouldn't it just disappear at some stage?

...yes, with me in it...revisiting the times after 1973, when I sold bikes that I wished now that I still had ,and reclaiming them...particularly my T250 Hustler with the high pipes...ex Stu Avant ...
...a dumb, naive, little wanker, was I...
...nothing much has changed in that respect...hmmmm...........

I only kinda regret selling my RZ and the YZF750SP. But I'd done my time on them and I have an RZ special (somewhere :innocent:)

Murray here used to have one, asked me if I wanted it as I had a boner for Stingers. He still had it relatively recently I think. Yellow one.

I just about wet myself with pleasure and rushed out to buy a Lotto ticket...
However - It's and early example and I'd want to ride it and it just looks like a bike that has sat for a while with an occasional wipe over with a cloth...

I know nothing about this or whether its objectively a "good" bike or not. But I dont care about that. Look at the colour!!! LOOK AT IT! also the swoopy "styled" engine cases.

Oh Gawd no. Its a Jawa. Run.
Paint a Honda Benly Purple if you must. Heck paint a CM400A Purple if you must and change your name to Squiggle. Just don't buy a Jawa. Even ObiWan Kanobi was shy of them..

Is it a classic if no one has heard of it?
Well, only anoraks who read crazy books. :first:
Never seen one in the flesh. Kind of in same ilk as Hodaka, Bridgestone and Meguro. Heck, I have a whole book full of more odd ones..

I've seen two of them in the flesh. Very eastern European. Both in collections after rebuilds. Both done by very clever engineers - as you have to be to sort one of these. Suitable for use on VCC runs where you run a contest to identify the bike.
