all i can say it's hats off to a lot of the 'trackday riders' who weren't scared to get out there with some of the countries best riders and give it a shot, a lot of people are too scared to get out there and be 'measured' good on you folks.

Went down for a few hours spectating. Got there when the race was about 1 1/2 hours into it.

I thought the concept was a bloody good one. Tyre rule, kept the pace under control and riders showing restraint (ie not falling off) and no fast change type equipment required. 3 bike rule - no need for fast refill and OSH hazards etc. One day event - kept the costs down I'd say. Ie it made the whole thing accessible for people who would not normally do such a race.

Overall, at times there was a bit of traffic, it seemed like everyone was playing really nice together, and as expected those who played the smartest game were at the front.

Not my bag, but I thought it was bloody good - liked the idea of the drone to collect transponder from fallen or stopped bikes. saw it in action - too cool!

Good result to build from.

23 teams of 3 riders and 2 of 2 riders. By the end both of those numbers had changed a little.

Only one ambulance ride, a big high side out of turn 4 and he's posting of facebook so he's mending well. The drone only had a single pick up I think. There were only 2 bikes parked at turn 3. Very few crashes, considerably fewer than at a normal race day.

I was one of the teams with 2 riders. Don't recommend it :-) I had a absolute blast and was still smiling through the last laps. All riders were passing with consideration. Was very impressed. Will get a bit more organised for next year!

Some riders pitched up at the track for a day on the track. Some volunteers and organisers did as well, which was probably a good thing, as otherwise the day wouldn't have gone ahead? Weather played its part.

Then the bikes did some qualifying and spent the rest of the day going around and around ... and around. There were some early crashes and then it settled down.

There was a winner (probably the standout - coz they won?) probably a podium and I think some prize giving.

You totally should have been there ;)

At Porirua races back in the early 70s a kid asked a cop if those guys should really be loading all those bikes into that furniture van.

It may not be club people who stole all that kit, although I know of one formerly respectable dude who stole a couple of new MX bikes. Nobody knew what happened to them until a few years later, a couple bought a second hand bike for their kid and took it in for a service.
"Oh, and where did you get this?"
And the mystery of the missing bikes was solved.

It was stolen the night before from somewhere south of Ngaruwahia. Sounds like they've got some of it back but the bike is still missing.
