This may have been posted already and I just missed it. But here it is for those interested.
It looks as if NZTA have been doing a bit of work with our ACC levies: http://www.nzta.govt.nz/safety/driving-safely/motorcycling/motorcycle-safety-projects/safer-rides-southern-coromandel/interactive-map/
Have a browse around there for all the info. It is nice to see some thought being given to use. There is an email address ( safer-rides-sc@nzta.govt.nz ) if you want to provide some feedback.
Lots of the changes, some of which I am not so sure about e.g. the extra painted markings in the rain in areas the bike shouldn't be in the first place.

Turn off at Tapu and go over the top to Coroglen. You still have plenty of unsealed road there.

Usual KB wankery I see. It's hard to argue with any of these changes, they're all decent common-sense upgrades that we should be happy about.

Yeah this was done a while ago. I got some Free Stuff for giving them feedback.
Must be about time to go for a ride there now that the holidays and long weekends are over.

Rode part of the southern loop today - Kopu to Whanga and back. Not sure if this is new, but there are steel sections on some of the roadside crash barriers below the W beam that cover the steel posts. I can't think of any other reason for this than to mimise injuries to us.
Sorry, should have stopped to take photos but I was having too much fun.

Yeah, I believe that is for us. From somewhere else that I posted this, I believe Aus has them on all barriers.

They seem to be mainly on the Hikuai - Whanga road. All sorts of barriers on Kopu - Hikuai.
Fucking KB, never used to pay any attention to barriers!
