Seemed like a nice guy.
Had a few beers with him years ago at the West Coast Sportsman of the year dinner, when it was still a no women allowed function. Still got his name tag somewhere amongst all my crap.
RIP.

Most people don't know he was first picked for NZ actually as a bowler who batted. His back got buggered when they over bowled him in a test in the subcontinent.
He was one of the few batsman that the Aussies actually feared.

Bit of Decorum there Akz, he wasn't a bloody mongrel, he was one of our few bloody good barstards. RIP Martin Crowe and thanks for allowing all of NZ to see our Cricketers beat those bloody Ozzies.

I prefer watching paint dry or grass grow to to cricket, but I had a lot of respect for this guy.

You might make the news one day for one of those " and today a man was found dead in his home. According to the Police he had been dead for many years"

The downside is ... we'll have to wait many fucking years to hear it ... <_<

in a way i agree with Akzle every time some sportsman carks it its like they walked on water, just look at the recent departed rugby players who will be getting lined up for sainthood, lots of people die of cancer who were just as deserving of all the accolades but because thew were normal joes and not professional sportsmen they never get a mention

So what should they have on the news then? Some pc bullshit like "today a famous sportsperson died, as did other non famous non gender ,race, religion, sexual orientation, disability both mental and physical specific, people who possibly participated in sporting type recreational activities but didn't necessarily excel, but are just as important anyway"

Sport is just soap opera for men.Unrehearsed and unscripted (the best ones anyway) so happening live in front of you
and enlivened in its experience by being there and sharing its highs and lows with fellow sufferers.
At its best so called "sportmanship"gets thrown out the window and real human interactions come to the fore (you know...that basic animal that hollywood can only play-act at)We saw it in the test series against Aussie and most def saw it in Rossi v Marquez last year.
Enjoy it,its not gonna last in this increasingly sterile world.
Martin Crowe was the most stylish batsman I have ever seen pull on a NZ jersey and for that he will be remembered.

That bull buggering 'sperm donor' beneficiary was the first to bring up the cause of death. Everyone else that posted didn't mention it at all. Martin Crowe was much more than world class cricketer, he was a Father/Brother/Husband/Son and friend to many...unlike that bull buggering 'sperm donor' beneficiary.

Did anyone here watch last week's episode of The Nutter's Club, on Maori TV?
A repeat of Martin Crowe's programme.
Battling demons from within, losing a marriage, struggling with "games performance" (can't call it a sport, since it is a game) and a multitude of other things happening.
A few of those posting here would be better people to watch it.

Some of those posting in that pink thread seem to be Battling demons from within and struggling with apparent performance anxiety. Could that because it's the sites equivalent to the nutters club?
