Replacing mirrors because of some scumbag! Please help!!

I need to find out where I can buy mirrors in Christchurch? Some drunk cnuts ripped the mirrors off. The sticks they sit on are still attached, it looks like they've been ripped from the ball joints.

I need to get a location (apart from Trevor Price Yamaha) where I can get some replacement mirrors for my Yamaha Scorpio 225 (first bike, less than a week old!)

Don't Yammies have a left hand thread and a right hand thread? My Suzuki has a 8 mm right hand thread fitting on each side. If your Scorpio has both right hand threaded fittings then you should be able to pick up mirrors from any brand at any dealership or motorbike wreckers yard. 8 mm is the standard I think, I think HD have 3/8".

If it has a left hand and right hand thread then you'll be restricted to the Yamaha agent or Yamahas at the wreckers.

By the way, I think the Scorpio is a nice learner bike, nearly had one but a cheaper Hyosung GV250 won out.

Thread confusion? Not unusual on KB.

If your bike is like my Yammie then the mirror stalks are clockwise and anti clock wise, they go in different directions. This is the bit that goes onto the handlebars with the adjuster nut. Undo the stalks / stems and you will see what's what.

I smashed a mirror on my TDM and found it easier to just put on some cheap bar end mirrors. Ended up with a much better view for about $20.

Yes, I understand you're new to riding and the learning curve is a bit steep and you seem to have had your fair share of issues with your bike. But now is the time to start finding out for yourself what terms mean... google is your friend.

Not sure about left or right hand threads - google it, and look up the workshop manual which you'll probably find at the local public library. If you're a student at a tertiary institution then you might even be able to get a copy sent to you there...

As for the mirrors - I'm assuming, yes, I know we should never assume, that the mirror was ripped of the end of the stalk. You have several options: first replace the whole unit for each side either from the dealer or from a wrecker [hence my suggestion to look at GP motorcycle wreckers] - and you need to ask them how much it will cost as most of us will have absolutely no idea. Second, you might be able to replace just the mirror part and that's why you've been directed to try Budget Motorcycle Spares by Asher.

Yes, I know the above is a bit tough but if you can deal with stuff yourself then you'll enjoy the bike more yourself. Nothing wrong with asking for advice but before you do, think about where you might find the answer for yourself.

Now, either go and see Budget Spares - or even phone them - or drop an email to GP spares and asked about the Scorpio they are wrecking.

There is CCTV and I can see a random woman does it at 0330 and then drives away in her car, but stops to pull off a window wiper from another vehicle. Bitch.

I should have mentioned in the previous post that no, unfortunately the lights on her car are too bright for the camera to pick up on. I'll see if any other shops have CCTV but I doubt it.

One of the best things I've bought for the bike are a pair of mirror extenders.

They move the mirrors up about 20 mm and out about 40 mm, instead of looking at my elbows I now see back at about shoulder height. Definitely recommend them.
