I have a English copy of a Bosch ZE1 magneto, its identical, made in Coventry, has advance and retard and throws a good spark, came off a running bike, would suet early 1900 motorcycles.

I would swap for a BSA B31 head and barrel

Try Grumph about the BSA parts he might know someone who has a stash. Getting them to part with them might be another problem though.

Rocking horse poo in the SI now. All the CAMS specials used up the readily available B31/33 parts.

Ads in Beaded Wheels or the Register magazine might find something.

Are you short the bits to complete an engine or to replace damaged parts ? Cast iron is surprisingly repairable nowadays.

what's the serial number on it, they were often used on stationary engines too so not very rare

My bike has the triumph piston mod and the valves are very recessed in the head witch has screwed up the rocker arm geometry, also it has been re leaved round the valve seats in such a way that new seats will end up too deep.

I was talking to a guy who unfortunately has just passed away that the B31 heads and cylinders are worth about $10 each and he would get me one but the B33 500cc are worth much more

I will check the number today but it has an advance / retard system, I had it valued at around $400 by Ken Mcintosh but I would take a lot less.

My old man sold his B31 a couple of years back. Pretty sure he's still got a spare head and barrel in his stash of shit. He's in hospital at the mo but I'll find out and let you know.

That would be very much appreciated.

If all else fails, that's probably fixable. I've seen heads recovered using metalspray.

Have you priced a repro DBD top end there were at least two if no three crowds doing them, the Dutch ones were dead tasty ASB or something?

I haven't seen the price but I bet it would be nice, probably out of my price range,

My bike use to have a goldstar top end on it once I saw in some old photos, it still has competition cams.

Found a top end! swapped the mag for it to, head is mint, barrel is at +80 but i am going to punch it out to 410cc so it doesn't matter.
