Oh how I rofl'ed over this article. The ironing was so strong I nearly starched'n'steamed myself.
Considering he seemed so blase about beheadings perhaps he would prefer to feel "beheaded" rather than just "stabbed in the back" by our government?
I can't help but wonder if the nuts and bolts he obviously has lose in his head contribute to his rather bizarre reaction to no-one rushing over to rescue him from the horrible prison he is in at the moment. Is he really that simple minded that he can't see for himself how  his whole "I wanted to do this but I haven't become the almighty warrior for Allah with all my attendant virgins (if I die) and slaves (if I live) so I want to come home now" appears?

Bridges' father was a Baptist minister and he is a practicing Christian. Bridges said he voted in line with his Christian values,
Bill English is a practising Roman Catholic,
2008 Key stated that he attended church frequently with his children
Jenny Shipley SHipley states her religion is importasnt to her and Here father was a parson.
Jim Bolger was born into an Irish Catholic family and like the national party has opposed bills on religious grounds

I'm oh so tempted to post some of the videos that exist on the Internet of what ISIS do...
Stoning Women to Death for having the Audacity to allow themselves to get Raped.
Beheading innocent people.
Throwing Gay people off of Buildings.
Running people over with tanks (the Painful way, slowly).
Wiring people with explosive Collars (made out of Detcord), setting them off.
Burning them Alive.
Pilling them on explosive ordnance and setting it off.
Not to mention keeping women as Sex Slaves, in conditions I wouldn't wish upon even them.
I dare anyone who has the gall to defend ISIS and what it is, to go off, watch the videos of them Executing people - watch the glee and happiness they have with deliberately inflicting a torturous death - Go on, I'll wait, they aren't that difficult to find and ISIS aren't shy about posting them.
Watch that and tell me they are just fighting for freedom.
Then after that, consider this: The person is okay with all of the above happening (I haven't seen him issue a statement saying he condemns all that ISIS is) - Does someone like that have any place in NZ society?

He was in Syria. Who was he going to kill in Syria? Who from the West was allowed into Syria? Was it that ISIS were pushing regime change as they were trying to remove Assad... which just so happens to be a goal of the west. Go figure. ISIS are funded and trained and provided intelligence by the "western" alliance. With no "western army" allowed in Syria without the threat of war on an even larger scale, what better way to push regime change but to send in yer proxies.
Great bunch of blokes the west... always fighting for their freedom in other people's countries whilst killing and displacing far more people than would have been killed or displaced had they just kept their fuckin' noses our of it. Yeah, squeaky clean the west.

Both sides are as bad as each other both sides claim to have the better most glamorous and most bedazzled sky pixie as well.
A COI report on March 15 said Syrian government forces and allied militias had raped and sexually assaulted women, girls and men in a campaign to punish opposition communities - acts that constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity.Led by Paulo Pinheiro, the COI has accused Syrian government forces of committing war crimes and potentially crimes against humanity, including mass executions, and some opposition groups of international crimes such as murder and torture.Marchi-Uhel’s team said its work would proceed independently of any Syrian peace process and be based on the principle that no amnesty can be granted for “core international crimes”.
he Syrian government has launched numerous chemical weapons attacks on civilians in opposition-held areas. With Russia and Iran’s support, the Syrian government has conducted deliberate and indiscriminate attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure, withheld humanitarian aid, employed starvation as war tactic, and forcibly displaced Syrians in contravention of international law. The Syrian government’s practices of torture and ill-treatment in detention and enforced disappearances continue.
Non-state armed groups have also committed a host of violations. The groups have launched deliberate and indiscriminate attacks against civilians, abducted, and arbitrarily detained activists, used excessive force to stifle protests and interfered with humanitarian aid delivery. ISIS has reportedly used civilians as human shields, and employed landmines and other IEDs causing significant harm to civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The Syrian government regained control over opposition-held parts of Aleppo at the end of 2016. In their operation, the Russian-Syrian military coalition conducted indiscriminate air attacks, including strikes on several medical facilities, and used incendiary weapons and cluster munitions. The Violations Documentation Center (VDC), a local monitoring group, documented the killing of 446 civilians, including 91 children, in aerial attacks in eastern Aleppo between September 19 and October 18.
While the number of civilian deaths in Southern Syria decreased following local ceasefire agreements, unlawful attacks persisted. In June, for example, Russian-Syrian airstrikes and artillery attacks targeted the town of Tafas, south of Daraa, killing 10 civilians in and near a school.
In September, the Russian-Syrian Joint Military Operation launched an offensive on Idlib province. Airstrikes targeted several towns and surrounding areas in the province, destroying at least six hospitals and five civil defense centers, resulting in the death of over 150 civilians, according to the Syrian Civil Defense.

ISIS and/or Daesh and/or IS can't be redeemed by the "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" trope. They are literally indefensible.
As for Mr Johnson, well, I am conflicted about that. He seems a couple of sammiches (ham and cheese, thanks) short of a picnic, but I dont understand the utter glee some people are taking in his troubles. I also love how people aren't questioning "the MSM" in their coverage of this story because it suits a certain agenda. I think if someone underwrote the costs of getting him home (his parents and/or the friends and family at his mosque) then he should be brought back, and then face the consequences of being a fucking terrorist by joining a terrorist organisation. I am quite a fan of the rule of law so that should do for starters.

Sounds like John thought a company wife was part of the deal & was very dissapointed when they didn't come through, so he's quit.

For once the government have got it right. He went there, he burned his passport, he joined DAESH. He's on his own.
He doesn't really want to come home, he's disappointed that the government won't fly him to Indonesia. If he gets to Turkey, or anywhere else there's a New Zealand representative, they'll give him travel documents to replace his passport. No mention of tickets. Good.
His interview very much gives the impression that he's almost borderline intellectually handicapped. His immediate future is somewhat perilous. The Kurds don't have the resources to keep masses of former DAESH fighters locked up, and they can't just let them go. It's not just the fighters either, the women who held on until the end are true believers and no country will want them back.
I guess it will come to be considered a "refugee" situation, but there's a lot more deserving refugees than those arseholes.

Yep, they'll courier his new passport to the SDF run Kurdish prison he's in, they'll see the massive error of their ways, and say "Oh you're a kiwi? we love fucking sheep and rugby too!" and they will get him a convoy from Syria into Turkey, drop him off at the door of the NZ Consulate in Turkey, and then all he has to do is roll his visa card, and get on the next plane. Of Course as well as believing in Sky pixies John Key and National were clearly heaps better at managing an economy than any labour government would.
Or maybe not.
Clark's fifth Labour Government reduced debt from 22.6 per cent of GDP in 2000 to 5.5 per cent in 2008.
During Key's National Government, debt as a percentage of GDP went from 9.1 per cent in 2009 to 24.6 per cent in 2016.

Indeed. The whole thing is a basket case, coz oil and military industrial complex. Nought much harder than that really. It's happened an awful lot in the East for a very long time to be anything other than that really. Everything else is politics created for the masses to play judge judy and executioner and to gain a mandate to keep torturing people around the world with impunity.

DAESH were nothing about freedom. They were about speading their very twisted version of Islam, taking over as much territory as they could, and establishing a caliphate. DAESH were murderous bastards and the Kurds should probably just have executed the lot of them, that's what they would have done to the Kurds.
Some may still be executed but the Kurds don't have a court system. Assad does though, they'd get short shrift from him.
The Bumbling Jihadi is on his own, he put himself in that situation, he can get himself out. The Kurds can't just let thousands of prisoners go because they are terrorists, that shouldn't be difficult to understand.

But by surviving on a losing side, he's got nothing. At least after WW1 and 2, the repatriated POW's got some sort of welcome and honour.
I don't want him back - but if he manages it, it's prison at our expense. Again ironic...

And no western countries do that sort of thing. The hypocrisy is astounding. We didn't go to give them freedom. We went to take their resources and instill enough fear that the only outcome was likely that more muslims would join ISIL. It's all the wests doing. From the day Kissinger said that there could be no peace through dialogue in the middle east (back in the 70's) in response to Assad's dad saying that peace could be had through dialogue, to modern day. Resource rape and war and all in the name of introducing democracy and banks for oil. Viewing what's going on without taking that into consideration is just dumb. The west are getting everything they sewed the seeds to get over 100 years ago.

That's his stated preference. How he proposes to support himself once there he didn't say. Welfare safety nets are not a thing in Indonesia. He hasn't thought this through. Then again, he hadn't thought his joining DAESH through either.
Read today about a journalist interviewing the latest DAESH prisoners, all of whom stated they were cooks, cleaners, or bottle washers - of course. He told them that with that many cooks the food must have been brilliant. Nobody laughed.

lmao@schools teaching critical thinking. I have the same response when Fresco used to say the same thing: "We need to teach critical thinking.". We already have critical thinking, what's limited is the information provided as it sets limits for that critical thinking to take place within. As soon as critical thinking is limited by some arbitrary ceiling on information, then critical thinking then become fantasy and delusion despite the fact that it is still critical thinking. We already think critically, but only within the boundaries of our consciousness. Your limited consciousness versus my virtually unlimited consciousness (heh) are both critically thought out positions based on the knowledge we have. That the rest of our culture would collapse were we all get to think critically without limits, because such would see us stop doing virtually everything we currently do to address Earth Overshoot.
Critical thinking aye... so long as you're thinking is within the defined lines. Ironic eh... but that's the way the world is: "It Is Difficult to Get a Man to Understand Something When His Salary Depends Upon His Not Understanding It" - Upton Sinclair.

Not disputing simply raising the point.
Isn't that what the (democratic?) ballot box is supposed to control/provide? - majority decision?
That was his point though. If for example a Religious zealot rode a wave of fear and hate and was elected, say for example yourself -who would eagerly pursue the ostracism of Jews in the name of your nonexistent god; - well that would be a bad thing democracy can't safe guard against so rules should be put into place to avoid the situation in the first place.

Do we really need to bring the national party back into this?
Simon Bridges' father was a Baptist minister and he is a practicing Christian. Bridges said he voted in line with his Christian values.
Bill English is a practising Roman Catholic.
2008 Key stated that he attended church frequently with his children.
Jenny Shipley Shipley states her religion is important to her and Here father was a parson.
Jim Bolger was born into an Irish Catholic family and like the national party has opposed bills on religious grounds.

There is a process they have to go through to get back into NZ.

Asking nicely, and throwing it out there for all to have a think about, what is really important to you?
With my change of lifestyle that came about from selling my business a while back, I can pretty much do whatever I want most days, which gets a bit confusing to be completely honest. So I wrote down the five most important things for me to do every week for myself. Riding a motorbike was the first thing I wrote down, the second was tinkering with a motorbike, which is the same as working on one but for yourself & with no deadlines.

The answer to that is possibly "yes" but then you have to counter that with the vagaries of MMP where the majority takes on another flavour, that of the "political majority".
The electorate voted MMP in as the preferred electoral system and now we are learning to live with it - like it or not!

I'm just readng Andrew McCabe's book "The Threat" etc etc... He describes how Sessions, then the Attorney General, previously considered too racist to be a judge in Alabama, wanted to use Guantanamo.
A guy wanted by the USA for terrorist acts including murder, assaulted someone in Italy. The Yanks were notified by the Italians that he was in custody and available for extradition. Sessions wanted him taken to Gitmo, he did not want him to be brought to the USA.
The FBI had great difficulty convincing Sessions that the terrorist had to be brought to the USA. If he'd been left in Italy, he would shortly be back in circulation - whereabouts unknown. It was only an assault charge after all. No European country would release a prisoner to Gitmo and even if there was one that might, the European Court of Human Rights would have stopped it. So despite Session's tantrums the prisoner got a free trip to the USA where he now has free board and lodging.

Well I for one don't want cash abolished - for reasons I won't go into in public. Slowing the end of the world is definitely helped by riding bikes rather than driving cars. Also doing your best to turn people away from religion is a good thing as it has been explained to me on a US based forum how the religious right by supporting Trump are trying to bring about the predicted armageddon...

Think you are using the wrong word - I do not have any religion but I am interested in why other people do or what their religions actually stand for and why?
Why do I bother?
My wife is a Christian and before I could support her in raising our children in the Christian faith I felt the need to know what it was all about.
One of our children was damaged at birth by medical misadventure and later sent to a special government owned school run by Australian Christian brothers only to be molested by them.
So I don't really think you have any idea what you are talking about, but then, why should you we only know each other through posting on KB forum! :shit:
I do find it extraordinary the way posters slag off most religions as crap etc etc here but then fully accept that Jews have a god given divine right to Israel. - "balance?" :oi-grr:
If you think that to criticise some of Israel's behaviour toward the rest of the world is "hate" speech then I think that you have fallen victim to their brainwashing.
When I was born the state of Israel did not exist!
In less than my lifetime Israel has developed and become (IMO) the only real world superpower to whom almost all other countries grovel to submissively - why?
The subject has captured my curiosity - I have no axe to grind with Israel or Jews - the only hate here has been generated by other posters with very shallow imaginations.

So lets see, you think being old means you can post any old racist or profoundly silly material and not be questioned on it.
That's hilarious. Asking you to validate the material you post or pointing out they are exactly what joseph Goebbels said years ago, is not bullying you.
Pointing out you are posting mein kamph, quoting the virtues of Hitler and constantly attempting to post propaganda about a minority, is not bulling you. Its pointing out what you do and what you are and what you say.
As i have said to you many times, write what you post anonymously on this forum. Write it in the letters to the editor of Gore or wherever you live, with your name, address and see what response you ge, to your “harmless views”.
Now might be a good time to share your views on the noble freedom fighters that use terrorism to spread their messages that you have done so on many occasions. See how well that one goes down.

The more credence you give to this person.
Who also live streamed the killing for added publicity. The more likely there is to be copy cats. Because of the publicity their cause got.
If you actually want to stop any sorts of terrorist attacks. that are motivated by extremism. You need to shut down the causes and the information that fed their extremism.

islam is not a religion of peace. Islam is fascist and it's violent and we've had enough! They're chopping our soldiers' heads off. This is Islam. That's what we've seen today. Despite platitudes to the contrary, AKA routinely fails to draw a distinction between Islamist extremists and ordinary Muslims. To see akas prejudiced homogenization of all Muslims in sharp focus, one need look no further than his reaction to the arrival in Europe of refugees and migrants fleeing Islamic extremism in the Middle East. He has completely refused to draw a distinction between perpetrator and victim.

If we stick our head in the sand, ignore what was said - how can we argue against it? When the next young, angry Man starts to have ideas like this persons - if there is no rebuttal, no counterpoint, no logical argument as to why the conjectures and statements put forth are wrong - where does that lead?

Manifesto... well, if they get you hating your neighbors, then they win. That's why it's so dangerous to promote these things. They'll get followers. Not everyone can think straight.
Stopping the next angry young man... making sure that the dead aren't faceless, that there's a name, that it's a person and a life, then it'll quietly dampen down. Mostly, not always.
Having arguments with extremists won't work, it just entrenches their views further. Dispassionate facts won't work. You've got to go for emotion, the simple visceral gut feeling that doing this sort of violent hate is just flat out wrong.

However, upon Reflection, I believe he is achieving his objective more completely than first thought. He explicitly states he wants to cause division, he wants to pit the Left against the Right. Everything about his actions are in line with wanting to light a fuse, in order to burn everything down.
And so far, our Politicians, our Media and Us (Myself included in that statement) are doing our level best to prove him right - We are all pointing to our Worldviews and pointing towards our opponents Worldviews and linking his actions in a manner the supports what we believe.
In this sense, he is winning.
And I cannot allow that to be the case - so for once, I'm not going to argue about this - because that is precisely what he wants, and I refuse to let him win.
I'm going to ask - that whatever your opinion of me is, that you consider what his ultimate goal was (to instigate society to tear itself apart) and you guide your actions, just as I am guiding mine.

Morning. I read and (think) I understand the points you're making.
But in this case, I don't feel I need to consider my world view

I'm lousy with names. I put it down to old age. And when it involves people I'll probably never see again ... I lack enthusiasm to learn and remember their names. Some names however ... do stick in my memory for various reasons. Some good reasons ... some not so. And I'm not making an effort to change that.
The various news media ARE trying to get ALL the "facts" ... their (future) reputation (and job prospects) relies on it. All them trying to come up with a different angle/slant on things. Dig a big enough hole and you may hit pay-dirt. So ... they keep digging ... and there'll be still plenty of digging still to do. An interview with his high school form teacher is on the cards ... bound to be enlightening ... ;)

I dont see putting armed guards at mosques being a long term solution.
Nor do i see a need for military caliber and style semi auto weapons here in NZ.
As the last people to invade NZ was actually us.
There needs to be some better systems developed to look into ways of identifying these kind of nutters and prevent them from easily obtaining weapons and support.

How about we concentrate on the ways to prevent this.
Well I don't know shit about guns but it would seem to me that big magazines are a really bad idea in the civilian arena. As soon as he was caught reloading he was off like the
five foot chickenshit arsehole with a microscopic dick that he really was.

Going back to the original topic of this thread.
I doubt current events have helped his cause.

Yip but i would say he got those over the net, So just as well as he didnt obtain 90 round drum mags.
But yeah thats a great place to start
I understand at least one of the Victims died while trying to disarm him.
So anyone caught with the larger mags should get at least a year in the company of NZ prison systems finest.
Even in the USA the police learnt real quick they were able to outgunned in the north Hollyword shooting.
This lead to changes to prevent a repeat of police having to go to a gun shop to get appropriate weapons.

I believe you can readily buy them here but you're not supposed to use them if you've got a Cat A license because it's like really, really, really naughty.

I seen that on the news also as i was leaving that and the parts to turn them into full assault rifle spec and likely also the parts needed to make them full auto.
Massive loophole and very disappointing
I see Gun city were selling the parts i assumed you needed to hold the right cat or be out of the country etc.
I only caught part of it but was the gun city guy saying the 2 Semi autos were from elsewhere?
My Brother has always collected guns and he told me years ago it was simple to turn a SLR into full auto just a correctly placed matchstick.
I wouldn't fancy trying one on Full auto they are a handful as they are.
Not sure if its an urban legend or not.
But he has a proper secure bunker style magazine to protect his weapons.
But i know the military keeps track of all the mags.
I found a Streyr mag one day after an exercise they were bloody relieved i handed it back as those that lose them face a charge.

It seems 22 Cal Semi autos are not used in the states for mass killings as the only 22 were mostly handguns.

Brings back memories of being in the Territorials (1972 or thereabouts) and hearing the very same story (matchstick).
We were shown a full auto SLR being fired - from a prone position and the rifle was on a bipod. It had a much thicker barrel than the standard SLRs we were issued with.

Yeah here in the late 80's at least they still had a 308 version of the WW2 Bren for that, only 30 shots though.
It was bloody heavy. Even compared to a SLR.
We used to do the target practice for the young ones with a 22 short chambered 303 lee enfields. As the full scale kit was a bit loud for the indoor range.
It was an interesting assortment with the M16s and SLRs. old Brens the Laws and i think Browning 9mm.
I guess they keep all that sort of kit for the territorials cadets and ATC and so forth or what do they do with them?
The Argentinians had Full auto FN Fals, proper boots, plus bigger mags that they never had to carry a full kit including ammo over half the island, it never did them any good.

Pretty much Impossible in NZ
You'd need a Milspec Bolt Carrier group.
a Milspec Lower receiver (so a one that both didn't have the material inserts to prevent the use of an Auto-Sear and one that allowed the fire selector to be rotated to the full auto position).
Those 2 items are okay, although the Receiver would require an Import permit. The issue is with the 2 other items needed:
You'd need an Auto-Sear, either a RDIAS or a Lightning link or similar - Good luck trying to import that into NZ.
And you'd need a Full-Auto trigger group - again, good luck trying to import that into NZ

I took you off ignore to say this.
When do you intend to go back to pushing the same anti islamic crap you were peddling on here a few months ago.
You remember it is the exact same shit this killer was also peddling.

Its the same recepie but just a different flavour as tripe Oldie peddles and as did Akzle before him.
Does it give you a warm glow knowing you did your part to reinforce these attitudes?
In some ways it worse than oldie and Akzle as you i thought had a modicum of common sense.

you are aware that you can just mail order things and they can come thru the post unchecked? Like pistols and knives etc? Gun parts would be even easier. Our RD postie delivered a pistol to a guy near the Kauri Fonterra plant and then he got busted with it in a seperate offence.

I'm ex Regular force army. The matchstick does work. Ruins a good matchstick. (it doesn't last long). However this practice is not recommended as (1) SLR's only have an 18 round (in general practice) mag and you run out of ammo pretty quickly. You can get 20 in but they can jam in the mag. (2) On auto is VERY inaccurate. (3) 2-3 mags on auto the barrel heats up and rounds can jam in the barrel. SLR barrels are not easily changed as in the Heavy barreled SLR. Thus ... it can be done. But ... like swimming Cook straight ... hardly practical.
If you knew an armorer ... lost mags were not an issue.
