Since I haven't been on the track before, should I select "novice" even if I might be too fast for that group? (I may not be, will have to wait and see...)

I'm not sure which group I fit into, I'm semi fastish, but I'm on a 250
And I've not been on a track yet. (Hope to change that between now and then)

Having riden with you around coro i'd say the fast group for sure. Although if you haven't been on Taupo beofre you might wanna go in the medium groupd for a session or two first, then change groups...

catchya then

Oh, we can change...sorted then. Never been to Taupo, so shall just jump in the medium.

Cheers mate :niceone:

PS: managed to pull a wheelie using the clutch today! but crashed the front down and decided I won't try again 'til I buy a thou' 'cos it's just not my talent aye.

should have the R6 up to pace by then so put me down in fast group. As mentioned may need to have play in the medium group to get used to it.

Perhaps we have some 'warmup/practice' sessions first off and a run down of the track layout?

I think the main thread says that there's gonna be a 4 lap warm-up and sighting period for everyone.

Still praying for the new track to be open to us...

Do I have to go in the novice class if I havent been on the track before?

RiderInBlack
28th November 2005, 07:48
Start me off in slow and jump me up if I'm going too fast for that group. At the end of the day I'm probably medium, but definitely not fast based on other track days I've been on. There usually fair jump between "Fast" and "Racing" as well on other Track days. Something you might consider.

No,if you're a reasonobly competent road rider then the novice group will be too slow,it's more for newbies with not to much riding time.

Yep,I'm pretty quick on the road and I went in the fast group last time, but prolly woulda been better off in the medium group,at least for a few rounds. The biggest thing with the fast/racing group is you need to be comfortable with guys passing you fairly quickly.:thud:

I think you should be kinda ok in the slow group - to start off with.

From memory I believe the medium group were lapping Taupo in the early/mid fifties.

The fast group were doing it in the 40's.

The slow group was doing it in the late fifties to around a minute or so.

I was doing it in about 3 minutes.:spudbn:

Devil - if your're worried about it do a session or two with the newbies/slow group to get the feel of things and the track, then Im sure you'd be OK in the medium group after a couple of sessions. Its a confidence thing and you're quick enough on the road........so............:blip:
