Advice on selling a non-running bike

Hi all,

I have a 1984 Suzuki GN250.
It has >55000 miles on the clock.

The engine has given up; I suspect burnt valves. It's in pretty poor condition, but always got a WoF.
The rego is on hold.

There's also a parts bike, which is not complete.
I used it for its disc front end; the good bike originally had drum. I still have the drum front end.
Has a seized and partially-dismantled engine. Very tidy tank. A few spare indicators, etc.

I'd like to get rid of it all, and not go to the trouble of selling and shipping individual parts, but I realize that indicators, the tank, etc. are worth at least something, so am reluctant to put it on TradeMe for $1 reserve.

How much would this lot be worth, and what might be a good way to sell it?

Throw a price out there.

GN's were popular for being a cheap learner motorcycle. The chopper style had helped the image but not the handling. Those that ran were worth more than those that didn't.

Then the LAM's system was introduced.

Now those GN's that run are not worth much at all ... primarily due to their age, poor handling, and high milage. And now better and bigger cc bikes are available for about the same money that was once asked for a going GN in reasonable condition.

As it is too expensive to pay somebody to make two (or more) non-runners into one (good ??) going (and legal) GN ... most potential buyers will have as least one GN already. It would be sensible to sell as two parts bikes. At whatever any prospective buyer is prepared to pay for them (Or free) if they can come and collect them.

I put clubman bars on the "good" bike for the express purpose of getting rider weight forward to improve handling - makes quite a difference.



Looks like a $1 reserve auction could be the way to go. Thank you all for you help.

So thanks again, I bought that engine - the seller was just a couple of minutes drive from my place - picked it up after work on Wednesday and swapped it in on Saturday.
I forgot how much fun that silly old bike was. I almost don't want to sell it now.

Time to get it WoF-able; (new headlamp bulb, rear brake light switch adjustment)

Now its time to stick non running engine on Trade me for $100;) Glad it worked out.

Or put old engine in spare bike and sell as a fixer upper for $250
