need a bit of help maybe these things are normal and i just need to get used to the bike.
the front brakes feel a bit soft and spongy when i use them havn't checked nothing on the bike but do you think braided lines and better pads will help?
also if im slowing to a stop and im braking pretty hard the front seems to shudder a bit is this normal it just that it never did on my other bike.
but maybe it just the where my body weight is on the new one relative to the old one.
also where can i get a tre for my bike?
read a bit about them on TL planet and most people on there have them on there bikes and for the minimal cost want to stick one on my bike.
thats all.

What's a tre?
Braided lines supposedly aid feel and prevent fade. A wise man once told me that from his experience, improving standard brakes is about two-thirds pads and one-third braided lines (not comparing with total overhauls like new master cylinder, etc.).
I'm actually just about to go online and order some braided lines (maybe some flash pads too), 'cos my brakes were fading a bit at Puke on Friday.

timing retard eliminator
not sure if it just a suzi thing but it makes the bike think it is in 5th or 6th gear so it gives full power through the gear range.
think thats how you describe it.

Spongy brakes? well your 86 vintage probably needs the brake fluid replacing. Braded lines and sintered pads would also help. I would also guess that one of the discs is warped and that's what causing the judder under braking. Your head race bearings should also be replaced/checked for play. I wouldn't bother with a TRE as it only goes for fuel injected bikes which of course the 86 model is not. Although if your bike is not the 86 GSXR then all the above is true except for the TRE bit and you can get them from www.performancemotorcycleparts.com/ tuning_pages although personally I wouldn't bother unless I had a gixxer thou or hayabusa

If it's anything like the Bandit all you need to do is disconnect the 2nd gear and 3rd gear position wires from the gear position switch on the motor. The ECU won't know it's in those gears so it will enable normal advance.
FYI 2 & 3 gear are retarded to lower noise for EPA testing, which is done in those gears.

If you want legal braided brake lines try Trade Parts, they can make them for you depending on the ends.

Retard eliminator? No. It's too much to wish for...
And who on earth brakes that hard, that often, (apart from track riders) that they really need braided brake lines?

Make yer own tre. find the 3 wires that go to the gearbox (pink black/white and blue) cut the pink and black/white ,then simply solder a 5.8k resistor between the two on the pooter side of yer cuts then tape her all up. Easy and it works well, at least from my experience. :niceone:
