L Plate Cop…. Both Brain & Balls
Sunday arvo, back roads of Red Hills Rd, Kumeu, 4 bikers hit the sweepers & straights to finish off a brilliant weekend of riding, meeting Charlie Boorman, & BBT.
During the arvo ride, the rain comes down but doesn’t deter the 4 keen kb’ers from the sights of Hellensvile.
10 mins into the ride, Dynamytus50, “ L Plate Cop” comes sweeping around a sharp left hander & into a 1 km straight, starts to open up his little blue beast & make it scream, but buttons off behind a cage “lovely lady car driver” that decides to over take a cyclist at 120km plus in a 100km zone “in the wet”, once in front of the cyclist this “lovely lady car driver’ hits the anchors as hard as possible to turn into her driveway, & all in the mean time cutting the cyclist & “L Plate Cop” off in the wet. With hard breaking by the cyclist & 20 years experience under his belt avoids the interview with the side of the cage, but Dynamytus50 “4 week Learner” on the other hand has now lost all options of swerving or breaking his little blue beast of a GSX on the wet roads only too become a permanent fixture on the back of her car.
Or not…..
He breaks hard while keeping control, no where to go, decides to dump his bike on its side & follow it in to the unknown & hoping all the while his bike will slow quicker than the traction of the tires, the bike & coppa slow enough to let idiot lady pull into the drive while he continues narrowly past the back of the car & continues for another 20 meters down the road until slowing to a stop just before a welcoming lamp post.
Dynamytus50, L Plate Rider should hense fourth be called, “Super Cop”
“All with the permission of Dynamytus50”
Rest up Ben.... hope ya feel better soon :) Sorry about ya little blue beast

Dunno if you can cover them in tickets that thickly but it would sure look good.

Interesting to hear what comes out of this for the 'lovely lady car driver'... Hope Dynamytus50 heals quickly (Hope the injuries are only minor!) and gets his bike back on the road...

Hmm could look at doing her for dangerous or careless but its a bit iffy because i have a natural bias against her and there are no independant witnesses (no other people who saw it who dont know either of us - apart from the cyclist who i was in too much pain to bother getting the details of..) and the way the media is today they could put a really bad spin on it. I will have to think about it.
Nah go for it... she deserves it! idiots like that will never learn otherwise
Im a little gutted as shes a 2002 done 8000k..got her for 3,900 dont think i will get that same deal. I will probably go to a CBR or ZXR next...need a new lid as well as thats not covered by the insurance and it got a fair whack...
It sucks so much having to use four wheels and not two :(
Go the ZXR route... I've had mine about 6 weeks - it RULES!!!
Good luck getting back on the road mate...

Mate, lay a complaint... and let the other police officers deal with it.
You can give an accurate account of what happened... as can all your witnesses..
She just about took out two people....... and that aint good at all.
Rest up and get well soon.
See you back on a bike real soon.

I think the bike will be a write off to be honest, its insured for 4k and they will only repair up to 75% of the value and the damage is pretty bad (fairing 2800 (which leaves only $200 to fix the brake pedal and hand brake, straighten the bars and repaint the engine cowling thingee)
Im a little gutted as shes a 2002 done 8000k..got her for 3,900 dont think i will get that same deal. I will probably go to a CBR or ZXR next...need a new lid as well as thats not covered by the insurance and it got a fair whack...
It sucks so much having to use four wheels and not two :(
If it gets written off...you get your $4k minus excess...find out where it's being sold and buy it from the insurance company...leave the fairings looking like shit, fix the functional parts. You'll likely take another dive in the next two years.
It's sad that the first one happened so soon...but if it's a good bike, and most of the damage is cosmetic, then it might be economical to try this route.

Gutted mate, but at least you not in too bad a shape.
I know that feeling all too well when you get cut off. Happened to me 3 times yesterday (bus, some punk in a car failed to give way and a 4x4). Bloody cagers.
I'd have a go and see what you can get out of her, maybe she should make the claim on her insurance? but then again maybe not.
Good luck with it all anyway:)
