I got a few months on my hands and cant ride my bike  . So i thought i might spend a few $ on the old girl  .
Has anyone got any bits for a 99 R1 sitting around? Rearsets, carbon fiber, pipe, Ignition advancer etc?

Ebay is the answer, or the www.r1-forum.com will be a big help.

I had a look at my suspension linkages and bearings the other day.

It took me about 1 hour to tie the rear of the bike up undo them and re grease them and mate did they need it.

Nice cheap one that?

I am now running an 03 suspension with dogbone-linkage and she feels really compliant and also gives a little more rear end ride height. Turns in and holds a line beautifully.

You can just get a little more height with a 02-03 dogbone

I have also been over the bike with dielectric grease at all my connections :2thumbsup

Have you got a manual? I have got one on disc here if you would like a look.

Thanks Saul, I put a new FG rear shock in mine a couple o months ago and did all the greasing then. It has more ride height now and like you say it definitly holds a better line. A completely different ride. I also have some heavier front fork springs on the way to tidy up the front.
Ebay is my friend hahaha.. Yea the R1 forum is a goood source of info alright.
I have a manual as well thanks.

That sounds good.

I am a shocker for ebay I keep getting drawn to the buy now button:bash: :blip:

My front forks have been sorted by maxton and feels great. I am sure you will enjoy yours.

That is all I can afford to do to my bike at the mo but it zips along pretty well.

After seeing the linkage bearings I am thinking of doing the swing arm bearings just to regrease them:yes:

Yea do it. Nothing like a bit o grease. If you are planning on keeping it for a while get a grease nipple fitted to the top of the swing arm pivot tube. Then you can grease it whenever you like no stripping.
