I reckon they don't want to get the law involved because they would be up the creek with no paddle. No wonder they are happy to pay you out quickly. I think its a case of a large vehicle going places that it should not be. You know, drive to the conditions...:bash:

Go in and fill out an accident report anyway. This is a very good thing to have in the back pocket when dealing with insurance companies! Especially the other parties insurance company.
The police might also decide to press charges against the bus driver. There are many road offences that sound they could do him for if they were so inclined.
Off topic: Yay! not long to the big 200 posts now :-) Congratulations

Go to the police NOW and lay a complaint against this driver...
You have all his details...
WTF was he doing on the wrong side of the road.
So if it wasnt you on your poor wee now crushed bike.. it could have also been a car that he would just smash into... and not care....
This dude should not be driving a bus.... what about his passengers.. seeing you about to be crushed...
Thank goodness you were able to get off your bike and run for your life.
Stagecoach had better pay out for a total replacement of a brand new bike.

He's bound by the conditions of his licence to report the incident to the police himself.
He was also ment to give you all his details as well as those of his employer.
Hope you got witnesses mate, because otherwise it's your word against his and against stagecoach "you lose"

No body needs to be injured for a dangerous driving charge, the manner of driving just has to be a danger to any person in the circumstances. Which clearly it was.

Sounds pretty much like he was cutting the corner, which in its self carries a $150.00 instant fine but in the circumstances will probably amount to dangerous driving.

one guy on a push bike and the people in thier house who took pics of the bus on the wrong side of the road
im just glad i didnt become roadkill i was still jumping off it when the front of the bus was about 2 metres away front wheel just missed it but the back end hit it hard and rolled over it passengers looked pretty shaken up apparently they all thought i was still on it and the cyclist thought i was as well

Bad luck there mate. Not a happy thought to see a bus bearing down on you!!
Your comments on Public Transport remind me of an incident I had some years ago...
Was on a DT175 in the metropolus of hams. On my way to work just before 8 and a bus does a righthand turn accross infront of me. I lock up the rear and hit the bus just behind the rear wheel.
Pick myself up and driver runs back somewhat worried!! All limbs still attached, bike a bit buckled but wheels still go around, so I think its time to leave. Something to do with no WOF!
Well get to work as it was only 50 meters away. And as you do after things happen, Think I had better get some more details from the bus company. So I phone them up and ask about the bus that has had the accident.
Lady says, "Oh which one?" , "There have been 3 this morning" !!!! Like how big is Hamilton in the early 80's!
End of story. Got insurance $'s and the bike, fixed it to live another day.
In Wellington you used to have to watch out for the Big Red's, they are all different colours now :)

I can hear the bus drivers excuse already... "I didnt see him as I was driving up the wrong side of the road, officer..."
Jackshit happens to bus drivers for driving offences. I got taken out by one once, completely wrote off my shaggin wagon, (ok, ok, I was 18...) and dented his bumper all because he had to whack off at his mates parked up at the school and took his eyes off the road. Crossed the centerline and *cruncho*.
Judge Dredd asked if I had anything to say when he had his day in court, and I said "Yea...whos gonna pay my insurance excess?" He was fined $250 and I had to pay $400 excess on my insurance???...In the end, I ended up paying it (of course...) and Stagecoach laughed their asses off...
Funnily enough, just coz i could, I applied for a job at Stagecoach a few years later (as a bus driver), was offered a position, but I only contemplated the offer for a nano-second before I said nah, flipped the pasty looking hiring guy with the 5 neck rolls and three chins the bird and told him to shove his bus-driving job up his (bleep). I drive buses for pleasure cuz, not for a bunch of smelly schoolkids...
Seriously glad to hear you jumped clear of being squished beneath the bus. Good work :2thumbsup Time to put ya feet up, have a beer and look back at how frikken lucky you really were!!

Bugger about the bike mate, but hey you're still in one piece and thats all that matters.
Bus drivers should be bloody well closely watched. I got cut off by one yesterday (and its not the first time). you think that should they make the wrong choice and pull out infront of a mack truck? how many people are they putting at risk? dammit they should all go back to driving school and learn to use their bloody eyes.
Ok think i got it outta the system.:angry2:
Well good luck with getting them to payout. If it was me then i'd be pushing for dangerous driving, had you not jumped off then he could have ended up with far more serious problems. Hope it all sorts itself out.:)
