Blew a headlight bulb on the R1, so no worries, phone up the bike shop to get a replacement one, should be pretty cheap right?.. WRONG!
They reckoned it would be $50 something dollars for 1, so I politely said I'd get back to them if I needed one. Now we deal a lot with Hella and get an OEM discount, so I look the bulb up in the catalouge, and what da ya know, you can get them for like $15.00, or get the fancy 50% brighter, bluey ones for like $26.00!
So if ya need any headlight bulbs for bikes and you reckon they are too dear let me know, should be able to hook you up.

Sweet i'll take a few thanks, I fancy ones. I'll get you the hella part number and would be pretty interested to see what price you can get them for aye.
think they are CA1255 (12v 55w presumably) and then a code after that which designates either standard, 30% brighter, 50% brighter, longer lasting, or the fancy ultra blue ones. I got the dearest hella ones which were $26.00 each
the codes were like x, x2, xu, xu2, for the budgo ones and the darer one was like a cb2 or something.

Open up a few ''Hella'' packets, and then look at the brand name on the product....

I know that the "yamaha factory" ones out of the bike were philips, so even though the Hella ones haven't turned up yet I assume they will be philips too? We don't deal with philips so aint gunna be getting any discount. In saying that I aint going to be paying for mine anyway, so it's pretty hard to beat free aye! :-)

Yeah, most likely Phillips,or Stanely. My suppliers are Bosch and Hella agents, but very few of the products in those yellow boxes from Germany are made by Bosch or Hella in Germany. The products they specialise in are their own - like if you get a Hella fog lamp it will certainly be Hella, but the bulb inside most likely not.

I think Hella is a light / lamp design company... they don't make bulbs... hence Philips bulbs are being sold under the Hella name?

They make yellow boxes with the name ''Hella'' on the outside.....inside those boxes are products from outside suppliers who meet Hella's criteria.....top of the list on how to win a Hella contract.....?????

Haha, well they just turned up. Turns out there is two bulbs in each pack, so that the "whiter light" blue bulbs were only $13.00 each and the basic ones were only about $7.00 like you say Motu. This does mean I have two more of the H7 blue bulbs that I don't need now if someone has a use for them!?

Oh, and yeah they are Philips bulbs just inside a Hella box.
