been a few years since I've had a bike and now it's time to put some rubber on it. I remember useing a MEZ1 in my younger days on an FZR1000 and on my RF900 as well as using a D207. both were good the D207 was fun around ruapuna but it did step out on me a couple of times but in a nice controled manner under power.
now i'm on the aprilla I'm looking for something a little bit better. not after a full on race tyre but something better than the D207. any suggestions?

He said he didn't want a full on Race tyre so my suggestion for a great tyre for mileage & grip was the above . Ran 2 Z6 rears on GSXR & never looked like letting go , same with the Diablo . The above are excellent tyres, don't do Michelin's myself had 2 off's with these . But have tryed friends bike with them on & they felt OK

strada is a touring tyre ain't it ??I'm on my second set of Pirelli Stradas now and they are plenty sticky enough for me, I'm confident they'll satisfy Jeff's requirements.

I don't think I was born when they were making D207s, but from what I hear the game has moved on about 3 or 4 times, in a big way.

Pilot Powers are da bomb, and give good life (got up to 7000kms from a rear I think... running high pressures on the street, but that's a 600 I4).

Metz Z6 all good for even more life from what I'm told.

I think sport touring would be more accurate,
similar role to the BT 020.

Although I see these days the category is being sub-divided into SPORT/touring and sport/TOURING by at least one manufacturer.

As if things weren't confusing enough already...

The Z6's would be the way to go Jeff, but then I'm biased. Heaps of grip wet or dry, warm up fast, and as for wear I got 7500km out of the last rear I bought. My current one won't last that long but then that includes a day out a Levels.

Pilot Powers rock:yes: .... Pirelli's only lsted 1500k's on the R1, and I get around 5,000 on the powers, but thats me and thats on an R1...
