Was thinking about it today and i was wondering what the fastest anyone has been caught doing?? How did they catch ya?? what were the repercussions??
I can see the papers saying that some fulla appeared in court today doing over 200k's and making a big deal out of it and then the biker community going bad luck son, i do that to go to the shops.
I havent seen much publicised in papers etc about bikers getting caught doing excessive speeds. Often it is boy racer this and boy racer that. Is it because were to fast to catch??
Whats your thoughts/Stories??

Just before MB gets here: you have to be caught and ticketed, or does that include successful runners?

Been caught a couple of times, once when I younger at over 250km/h and another only a year or so ago at 172km/h on a straight, empty piece of highway with good visibilty. The early one I didn't even know he was there until I slowed to 50'ish for the built up zone.
(Disclaimer) There may have been other 'offences' but lets not get into those. No need to get myself a reputation. Finally I've learnt my lesson and keep the speed controller well in check these days, sick of losing my licence. I'll save high speeds for the track now, too damn risky on the roads for a number of reasons.

caught ticketed and appeared in court if it came to that would be of interest. Although if you do have a wild tale don't hold back

been amongst a group:chase: that were road blocked to be stopped & the fella who was ticketed was done for in excess of 180kmh coz they couldn't lock the radar on us ( back in late 80s) we'd been in excess of 240, mate got 2yr holiday & fines etc:doh:
another mate got done 160 in a 50 zone 2yr holiday & $1000 fine tricked the bike out during the holiday, got licence back 6mths on the road then got done for exactly the same thing & got the same penalty:lol:  from the same judge:eyepoke:

Most bikers speed because they enjoy going fast and riding at pace, therefore they speed on certain roads eg SH16 which is heavily patrolled, your average person doesnt really mind this, But most boy racers have something to prove and they speed more around town and drag each other in populated places the general public doesnt like this so much, hence the papers concentrating on the boy racers more

A mate of mine told me he got pulled over for speeding and when asked if he had a reason he said he was shooting down to the corner store to get tampons for his misus as it was that time of the month. most I've been ticketed for was 140 on the open road. Once got pulled over doing 140... no rego, no wof. Went up to the cop & said " I BEG you for mercy Officer!" well he started to make up excuses for me! Asked if I was catching up to the bikes in front of me.(I never even knew there were bikes in front of me) Of course I agreed and he told me to keep my speed down cos the cops up the road wont be so forgiving. He didnt even look at my bike, just told me to get on my way. As I was getting back on my bike, my mate drove by with my kids in the car and knew damn well I'd been let off. Haha!
btw I dont ride like that anymore...it was all a long time ago & I have learnt my lesson:innocent:

200 in a 100 zone, 110 in a 50, 170 in a 50, 120 in a 50, 120 in 100, 160 in 100
and then theres some others that I can't remember. And all were in cars a few were in a 1275 mini, bright orange one. My fav though was when i was going along the north western and got off at port and there were coppers with a laser trying to snap people coming off the southern at grafton or wellesley(i think) and I was doin about 170 in my mini and there were about 5 cops standing around and i waved to them as i went by they were all furious waving at me and shit it was really really funny.

140 in a 100, The cop really enjoyed giving me the ticket, as I was gazing at his car, I was thinking along the lines of, wtf, take away the paint and flashing lights, theres only a puss bag car, it made up my mind what my plan of action would be in the future.....
A cop did let me off a 160 in a 100. He had me bang to rights and I had no where to go. The 1st thing he said was "Sir, the speed limit for the open road in New Zealand is 100 kph, not 100 MPH!!" followed by "I bet your the type that says all cops are A-holes" After professing in no way would I say that
He let me off! So yeah, I knew that day not all cops where A-holes!
Oh yeah, another funny cop story I have is, I sold my RZ500 and popped a goodbye Wheelie to say good bye to her.
I stop at a gas station and a cop pulls up and asks, why did you do that wheelie? So I told him the truth...he goes "Oh, OK then, hey, I've got an FJ1100, I like to do the rides over the Waiarapa, I'll keep an eye out for ya, bye!":eek5:

Got pulled over for doing 117km in a 70 kmh once .... Only problem was I wasn't the one speeding. Happened after the Caltex in the Hutt about 2 years back. The famous Commodore mufti got a Yellow TL1000R and the Yellow Duc mixed up (expletive inserted here) and pulls me over by the Timura Speedway. The guys about to give me a ticket and my wife pulls up on a yellow bike as well. Cops adamant that it was me and told me to confess . Held me ground saying if he’d pulled over the bike directly behind me , he would have the right person, cop ends up saying, I'm not going to give you a ticket this time so slow down. WTF , wasn't any way.
So , anyone here want to confess , two years back , Yellow TLR1000 , older style blue leather suit, hid your bike at the top of the taka's by the loos after ...
You owe me a beer matey.

Biggest ticket for me was 146K back when the limit was 80. Funny bit was that the fine would have been bigger if I was doing 26K slower...
Biggest luck was getting pulled for 180ish (still 80K limit) and the cop just told me to slow down, after looking over the bike and being generally quite sociable.

Remarkably I've never been caught speeding more than 20kms over the legal limit, and that's in a car! Never had a speeding ticket on a motorcycle in 20yrs but have been done for lanesplitting on the motorway and passing another vehicle on an on-ramp to the motorway, and in that case I was riding a gixxer750 on a learners licence and the cop just said to "take it easy" on the way home, didn't even give me a fathers lecture!

But was checked at 180 in a Cortina!
No ticket though 'cause we were all cops.

As a kid riding a GPz5550 I was running a little late for work... zipping along between Inglewood and Stratford and there's a REALLY cool underpass on the way. They basically dug out the road and do an "S" to tale the road from the RHS to the LHS of the train track...
aaaaaaanyhoo - you get the line just right and keep the power on and you can skip through there at a reasonable pace...
The Inglewood (read SMALL TOWN COP) cop going the other way turned and chased, booked me for 130 "from his experience". He saw me in his mirror... going the other way.No other evidence.
On one hand I should have challenged (and gotten off) the ticket. On the other hand I remember thinking he was about right...
Those of you in The Naki will know the "S" bend I mean... YEE HA!

In a cage, the biggest speeding ticket I've had was 143 in 100. Years ago. Got busted after being chased at up to 180 in a 50, but that was dangerous driving/driving while disq/failing to stop for red & blues. 18 months disq and 3 months PD. Bit of a bugger too, that cage was a lot more comfortable to drive than the one I bought to hack around in for the next 17.5 months.

Face it mate, you're born to lose. With an experience like that I can't believe you would be stupid enough to come up with the scheme you posted over in the "If you're doing nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear" thread.

You gotta watch those sound meters, the cops can hear you coming. The best way to beat them is to put the standard can back on.

2 different brushes with the law. Both a long time ago.
First one, being chased home late one night while I had 2 pillions on. Needless to say, the old CX400 slug wasn't up to it, but was good brownie points with the young ladies on the back though. Made some story up about getting these girls home to their parents, cops let my off. Got away once with a couple of mates on the back coming back from McDee's one night. Problem was, my mates coke got spilt down the back of my jeans when they where jumping off to hide in the bushes. Man that sucked.
My closest brush with loosing my license was for crossing a yellow line and overtaking 2 vehicles on the short straight before the esses south of some small town on SH1 known for it's gumboots. The big problem was one of the cars was going the other way. Scared the crap out of them, but not enough to stop one of them getting my plate. Told the cops I wasn't there at the time they reported and had witnessses to prove it. Just got a new job with a company car, loosing the liscense would have cost me the job.
Calmed down when I reached about 25. Bloody good reason for putting the minimum age up.

Fastest I was ever caught was 180kms/h in a 60kms/h zone. Think they could have locked me up if they wanted to, but instead they let me off with a bottle of brandy. Came and collect it at my house too. This happended at my home town in South Africa..

I was on my way home riding nicely came up to a passing lane the cage in front of me pulled into the right hand lane doing 105ks and just sat there I got annoyed so I flicked across the yellows and did a quick pass and flipped her the bird on the way passed, 15ks later glanced in the mirror to see the flashing lights by the time he got out of his car and walked up I was banging my head on the petrol tank ( I had got a ticket for 119 exactly to the day a month before) he asked my why I had "Passed a car that was passing a truck with oncoming traffic" and I explained how long I had sat behind her he told me I should have passed on the left, he estimated my speed to be 110 (i knew it was 160+) then asked me if i would be happy to have a ticket for crossing double yellows $75, i was rapt !!
Wenier
23rd December 2005, 23:59
Mine are crap really, i have had 3 tickets over many years all in 100k zones. 2 of these are for 115k and the other for 112 which really pisses me off. It would be alright if it were for a better speed and i wasnt tryin to speed jus wondered into the 115 area with out realising as most of you would no can happen.
Of course when they say whats ya reason, ya thinking why ask youll ticket me anyway, so proceed to say i wasnt tryin to. Look what im riding if i were speeding it wouldnt be 115k it would be decent like 150 or more.
But i may have lost a cop one time wit an excessive speed but i jus cant remember if i have done over 200k if anyone is an officer.
But if you look at my signature that says it all, i try so hard not to get tickets and then usually a month before i have zero demerits again i get to add some.
But thats life. :)

Det.Snr.Sgt.. definatly wouldnt be wearing a uniform in his day to day duties. Just formal occasions.

Tell me about it - I drive this big Nissan Atlas 1600cc van for work all week and it's just naturally slow as a snail - having only 4 gears and fucked timing doesn't help it either. After driving this thing getting into a 1300cc familia hatchback feels like I'm in a damn go-kart.

some of the preludes have the 180k limiter but you can easily overcome this by spending a few hundy. sure we can test it at the local school, but therses no point as they mainly wont know me cos i left to be bob the builder.

*back on topic*
few years ago I got pulled over in my car doing approx 220+km (wound off the dial)... cops caught up with me when I hit traffic on the bombay hill after about 6km, flashed their lights and pulled me over... leaned in and asked my brother (who was also in the car) if he had his licence... which he did, so they told him he was driving my car home. they then asked what the hell kind of car it was (pulsar gti-r)
lost my licence for 28 days, went to court, $700 fine plus court costs, and 50 demerit points...
nothing on the bike as of yet (but am waiting to see if a ticket is going to turn up for dangerous overtaking?)
