Well today I was talking to a friend in town, when she asked ... "hey, is that your bike?".
So I turned to have a look, and just at that moment one of those 30 meter tall SUVs backed into it knocking it over! I had it well into the designated bike park but somehow this brilliant example of a cager still managed to take it out.
Well, I wasnt sure if they were going to drive off or what so I sprinted up to the drivers door. She stopped, got out and came over to see the damage.
She gave me her number and all, after admiting it was 100% her fault (like to see her say otherwise).
Bike managed to start fine and I rode off to the shop I do my business with.
Obvious damage I can see is that the fuel tank has been shunted to the right, I noticed a bit of a ringing or something when I get off the gas and use a bit of engine braking - but might just be part of the whole powervalve issue as someone said in my earlier post?
Anyway, hopefully have this all sorted soon :angry2:

From recent experiance things to also look at are:

Handle bar ends
Brake/clutch lever
Mirror
Foot Pegs - Pillions too
Gear lever
All your trim including front wheel trim
Brackets for said trim
Realign front end

One thing to keep in mind is that if a parked car/bike is hit it's ALWAYS the fault of the moving vehicle (provided the parked vehicle is in plain sight).

My old fireblade was hit once in underground carpark, it was parked somewhere that cars can't park but probably shouldn't of been there. Anyway old codger knocks it over and doesn't tell, by chance a guy tells me it was a white car so I figure out who it is. He offers me a bit towards the repair saying I shouldn't of been there anyway. Then he mentions he wants me to sign a form saying I won't go after him for more at some later date. I smelt a rat so rang my insurance company and asked them what the story was. They assure me it's his fault 100% so I just hand on the car license# and the details of what happened. Bike gets fixed and I didn't pay a cent.

My wifes old scooter had the same thing happen, it was in a bike park across the road from a very popular cafe in Wellington.
Big SUV ran over it and then drove off, when I got back to it after work it was still lying on it's side.

I spoke to the owner of the cafe, he said he'd seen it happen and the driver of the SUV was a regular, they gave me his details and told me to let them know if he didn't get it sorted cause they didn't want people like that in their cafe and they would stop serving them!

It annoyes the hell out of me when cars park in motorbike parks

Well how about a bike parked in plain sight and as i came up to it the lady backs into it making it quits scratched and broken. Granted it was at night but i did purposefully park under a street light. She was real good though i got a quote and she kinda couldn't speak english so all transactions done through her son, but paid promptly.

Mine got bowled and the #$&#&&$ just took off, leaving no details, didn't even see them and the bike was parked about 1½ metres into the bike park area. The vehicle was white as they left paint on the engine bolts. Tank stoved in, front fairing wrenched to the left, handle bars bent and it had scratches all over the left side. I came out of work late on a Friday to find it - gutting.
