Hi guys,
A few friends and i purchased some Mini Pit bikes from www.pitbikes.co.nz for 1000 bucks each. They are cheap and crap, but i love it! We have had so much fun on them (when they arnt broken). But just dont ask for any help from the shop. They have the absolute worst customer service i have EVER seen...
Anyways, They are little 125cc air cooled 4strokes. I noticed on a few other websites that you can get performance heads for pitbikes, and other performance mods to make more power. However they are not for our specific model.
What kind of things can we do to start putting out some more power? Things like raising compression, Porting, Cam grinds, etc etc.. Do anyone have any good reliable information on how to do this reliably? Links to websites with HOW TO's or anything like that?
Cheers...

there is heaps of bits for tehm on trade me isn't there??
Anyway I'm not too sure, but I'd say a bit of a look at the jets should give it a bit more omf. But like anything, more power, less reliability.....

Wash your mouth out!:devil2:
That is utter crap. I have a CT125cc bucket and that pulling about 24hp at the wheel and it's reliable as hell. Starts 1st or 2nd time everytime! The only thing that will create less reliability is if you: a) over do it or b) screw it up.
In all honesty Arven, a bit of porting would do it some good. DON'T polish it - is better if you don't. Run avgas, Maybe shave some of the head down and that's about all I can suggest without getting too technical.
Good luck mate!

I realy doubt my bike has a 'Lovely Reliable CT125 engine'. More like a "$2 made of muck metal Ching waa special". The gearbox is useless. First down to Second (sometimes, if it grips, otherwise a false Neutral), Then down to third, Then down to 4th, Then down to the real Neutral, Then down to First again! (runs in a loop).
its a peice of crap. But its still fun.... Gotta be carefull with that gearbox. its a bit exciting when you go from forth to First at about 60kph...
Then when i get back on my KX250, i'm freakin backwards!! STUPID PIT BIKE GEARS!!! :ar15:

I would leave well alone. Not a coincidence - I have heard of gearboxes failing on these clones, something that you never hear of on Jap bikes. Welcome to Chinese engineering. Get used to it. Everything will be throw away soon. Cheap to buy, cheap to take to the tip.
CT 24hp. [insert Tui add] Best you come to manfield & give us all ‘the learn’ next month then.

Yeah, that sounds cool. Thought a 500 was the obvious choice though
Or perhaps a XR650/TTR600 turbocharged engine....
What is the frame like on your little pit bike? Pretty shitty as well?

Yeah, I think a transplant would be a bit tricky. The engine is about 50% of the frame's strength... The foot pegs and many other bits and pieces actually bolt to the engine... I think I will just leave it as is, and Thrash it till it dies... Or maybe sell it and stick with my KX250... But the pit bikes are a different type of fun... So maybe i'll have to upgrade it to something a bit better quality.. Do any of the Japanese companys make any small Pitbikes with at least a 125 4stroke engine in em??? I wonder how much they would set me back...

Get a Australasian Dirt Bike mag, tonnes of pit bike ads in there. Top Quality bikes are about 3000+
