Ok, if the weathers fine, we've decided to meet at Papakura Autobhan BP at 9:30 am and depart at 10 am.... heading to Coromandel and back. :woohoo:
Hello All,
Just wondering if some of you from Auckland would like to get together and ride to some place (yet to be decided; open to all suggestions) on Saturday 28th Jan if the weather is fine?
Cheers,
John

I was thinking of heading south to Port Waikato or Raglan or the Coromandel, etc .... quite happy to go where ever the majority of those coming along want to go to. Just want to be riding :-)

Ive never been to the Coromandel before so it sounds like a good idea to me.... what route do you usually take?
Devil
23rd January 2006, 15:04
I'll probably be doing coro, but at a relaxed pace with the missus on the back. Leaving early.
Anti-clockwise from Kopu is best.
Fishy
23rd January 2006, 15:04
Usually through Miranda to Thames then either clockwise or anti clockwise doesn't really matter both ways are pretty good.

If everyone wasn't a bunch of Coronation St masturbaters they would of organised themselves to go on the Northern Exposure Tour BUT they would rather curl their hair and fuck the neighbours dog. :argh:
Why do I bother?

Well Im going to be going up North to 90 Mile Beach on the Waitangi day weekend.... plan to ride up taking pretty much the same route you are and spend two nights there and then ride back on the same route you are too....
Therefore need another ride to go on this Saturday.... and the Coromandel idea sounds good.
How many are in for a Coro ride?

Hey did you see there is also another ride on Saturday at 10:30am leaving from Botany Downs to go through Whitford, Maraetai, Kawakawa Bay, Kaiaua etc...?
Do you want to tag along with them or are you more keen to head to Coro?
johnsf1980
24th January 2006, 07:38
Never noticed the other ride to Kaiaua and still cant find the thread about it. Ive been to Kaiaua a few times already tho and a ride anywhere else would be better.... doesnt really need to be Coro....

Darn that is a bit early even for me! :shit: How many hours does the ride take?
How about we meet at the Papakura BP at 9:30 am and depart at 10 am?:ride:

24th January 2006, 08:32
Depends how fast you ride I guess but if you just go through Thames to Coro township and come back the same way its about 300kms, if you do the whole loop its about 400 I think.
I normally have a few stretch stops on the way though as my bike is not the most comfortable to ride 2up long distance.

About 300 Kms sounds good.. will probably be a bit more for me seeing Ill be coming from central Auckland. I guess it will take 5 or 6 hours with strech/lunch stops, etc aye?
So how does meet at the Papakura BP at 9:30 and depart at 10 am sound? Conditional to fine weather ofcourse....
Fishy
24th January 2006, 08:40
Yep that sounds fine, you mean the Papakura Autobahn BP to meet?
Devil
24th January 2006, 08:51
If you just do the 300km part you miss the whole reason for doing the loop. All the twisty bits are from the top around to the other side.

Could be in, hopefully this low ahould be gone by then.
Are you gonna do the full loop this time Fishslayer?
Fishy
24th January 2006, 09:02
Yeah I would really like to, I will see if the missus is gonna come this time. If I go alone I will definitely do the loop but maybe not if she comes, she gets a bit achey perched up on the terror platform for long periods of time.
beyond
25th January 2006, 19:55
Would love to do the loop again but have a fair bit on this weekend with my parents moving up from Napier etc.
Yep, the bit from Coromandel over the top to Whitianga is a must for all keen bikers. Those roads are built for bikes and the round trip from BP paps, is 400kms as Fishlayer mentioned.
Would be keen to do this run most times if I'm free. Might be able to swing it yet, see how I go. :)

johnsf1980
26th January 2006, 10:24
Yep if weather holds out Im happy to do the full loop... will be riding at a relaxed pace tho seeing that Im on a new bike :niceone:

Hiya guys,
Looks like I can make the ride Saturday. Please let the weather be nice and warm and dry so we can ride the loop in the best conditions :)
We meeting outside the Autobahn at the Papakura service centre or next to the BP station?
Fishy
26th January 2006, 10:52
Cool man thats good you can make it!. I guess we should just meet outside the gas station itself somewhere.

Papakura Autobahn has its own exit off the southern motorway. There are numerous shops and a cafe and a large BP gas station.

hey Peripheral,
Always room for bikers anywhere in the group. :)
Some of you guys on 250's can mix it with the best but always ride to your own abilities. No ones out to prove anything, just have a good time and there's always plenty of stops so you never miss out on a bite to eat :)

Agreed, I don't have anything to prove and plenty of time. I was on the coro ride a couple weeks ago with you guys, so I know where I'm at. Didn't take too long to figure out that there'd be plenty of stops so I could ride at my own pace and not feel like I had to catch up.

I still may or may not be on the loop, but will be with the missus and being antisocial. So if you spot a kitted out speed four two-up, dont forget to wave. If I'm out there it'll be Pepper Tree in coro for lunch.

I think the secret to riding in this hot and sticky weather is to try and keep all *stops* to a minimum!

My summer gloves has little vents in teh fingers that let air in when you point your fingers forwards...[imagination running wild]its like having 2 hot chicks blowing cool air onto your fingers[/imagination running wild]
