Researching for an article. Does anyone have a ballpark date when the media reported this. I'm wanting to find the Ministerial quote that was made about 'feeling safe' at 170+kph. I think it was Jim Sutton or the Prime Minister.

Secondly after the conviction there was reported in the CHCH Press a Judge advocating that the convicted should appeal their conviction. I'm off into the library as soon as I've got a pair of crutches but need a ballpark date to search from.

Scumdog in another thread asked for the verbatim comment about the 330kph bike. Anyone got any ideas on how to get this?

Go to the police web site,

police.govt.nz

You can search the news area, you should be able to find the date of the first reports that way.

Yes and I'm going to blame the Worlds Fastest Indian. That Bert Munroe's got nothing on me. I want to be a legend.

The PM's motorcade was 17 July 2004 -- the same day as the Bledisloe Cup test between NZ and Australia in Wellington.

The All Blacks won, 17-6. The referee was Alain Rolland of Ireland.

I don't remember that quote but I can recall Helen Clarke saying she felt completely safe. I tried Google for you but nothing specific came up.

Newspapers have clippings libraries and could find it for you. I have a mate who was involved with the case and rides a bike. He might be able to help depending on how public the info is. PM me.

Rt Hon Helen Clark (PM of NZ) doesn't have a final E.

She also told one of the constables that their driving had been "Heroic". But for some reason she was never summonsed to court to explain why.

Living bang in the guts of the area where it happened, i can say that it was an event that was grabbed because of who it was & why it happened.

it was just one incident of a common event through the area, there are plenty of assholes that do similar speeds & worse, Mainly bloody sales reps in company cars & the ever present boy racer brigade, even the longhaul trucks that travel ChCh to Dunedin travel at speeds upto 130kmh (at night, Mc Dowell's 2 Curtain-side B-trains Morning star & Dawn star), absolutely no restrictors on those puppies

I reckon the fact that HC didn't know how fast the motorcade was travelling is all the proof we need that she really is a Lesbian.

Hands up any of the married blokes on here who can get over the speed limit without their wife noticing? Anyone? Didn't think so, she's obviously missing the normal womanly radar thing, case proven m'lud.:sherlock:
