What a day. Up at 5.00 for work. Home at 9.00am Cuppa then on da phone to see who is still around. Organise a ride to Wairoa for lunch. Meet at Bay View at 11.00am. Called back to work.........F#ck. Home about 11.10am. Out with bike and on with gear. Bike will not turn over. Flat as battery. Crash start it down the drive way. No...not even enough power to run the fuel pump or the computer. Back fire indicates that. Out with the tractor and on with the jumper leads. Starts first time. Off with the jumper leads and on with the seat. Now if you know the Gixxer 750v the seat is bolted down. Hop on and it stops....grrrrrrrr crash start it down the last 20 meter of drive way. no.... push it back up to the shed. realise it is a bloody hot day. Not nice in these leathers now.
Back on the jumper leads from the tractor. Starts again. Off with lead and all the dash starts to flash error messages. Back on with leads. All going well. So I had to stand around and wait for the battery to rob enough power from the tractor battery to run everything. after 5 minutes unclip the leads and the dash stays stable. great. put the seat on and try and keep the bike running. It will not ideal and never has. Got it all done and put the gear on with one hand. Better not put the radar detector on yet cos it draws current. Out the gate and fang it up the road. After 5 ks stop it plug in the radar detector. All the cars pass me again. One giving me a nasty look. Could be somethin to do with the way I passed them down the road. Then off to Wairoa for lunch. What a ride. Fine dry clean roads and the odd bit of rain but very little.
Found the others and had a feed. Good feed to. Then slower trundle home and a chance to play in the traffic. Bloody hot. Cuppa tea with MSTRS and YOUNGATART. Then off for a training ride for youngatart. You are doing well girl. :yeah: I was pleased to see it flowing so well at the end. From there home.
So despite the crappy start it was a great day and thanks for the good company people. :Punk: Nice to catch up with you morepower. hope you got the carbie sorted. Still was a great trip aye?
I love the Hawkes Bay:woohoo:

Cool to read about people in different parts of the country out enjoying their rides. Good write up! And no bins!!

Cheers mate. If you can run it off a tractor battery then I know my portable jump start kit must work without frying everything :-D

I've been worried about that and I have had problems before...

12 volts is 12 volts. Just make sure you have the key off when you connect the jumpers. :niceone: Better not to have to jump the thing in the first place but I left the radar detector turned on since last weekend. I have it hard wired direct to the battery to give it a clean circuit. Via a fuse. And like all things you have a trade off and this is it. Forget to turn it off and you got a flat battery. :pinch: This is the first time it has happened but I don't put the detector in the car any more cos the fuel costs keep me at 109 or so.

T'was a great day, G4E. Thanks for your comments and help. We carried on to the Bayview, had a cold one, only three jap bikes in the carpark-it must be the Harley pub... Headed on home along the Expressway-I ride faster along there than on those cornery things that you guys all love! had lots of fun and can see some improvement in my riding-sheesh- I musta been BAD.
Cheers

No. You will be a good rider. You think to much. Just hop on and ride. You said on the road " so much to think about". Stop thinking and just ride. If it was a push bike you would be fine and in all respects it is. just change down and keep the revs up and look ahead. Well ahead. You started to flow nicely in to the corners near the end of our ride. It was pleasing to watch. Remember what I said about the dancing thing Relax and just let it grove. You will be good. Keep it up.

And between us three, we had more leather etc than ALL the Harley bods put together (including the seat tassels).
As far as those 'cornery things' go.....they are the reason for the ridin'. Practise until you can say the same.

Now that's not nice. We must play nicely children or your toys will be put away for a week until you learn to appreciate them.

Where? I am 20 km North of Napier at Tangoio. So when I go for lunch it is out the gate turn right and on to the devils elbow at the Napier side. Last time I went to Welly town I went over the tackers and had a laugh. A good bit of road but so short. I got to the third passing lane on the Masterton side and passed a car and got set to give it a real fang and I was at the top..............At least we get to do it for 99 k's and then back.
