Has anyone out there painted their alloy frame? Going to do mine but can't decide wether to just paint it or get it powder coated. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Actually, while I'm at it. What's a good way to clean up an engine that has a lot of corrosion and white fuzz on the surface? I've got the motor out if that helps.
Cheers.

For the "white fuzz" use Autosol and HEAPS of elbow grease.
It works quite well.

Painted my ZXR750 J1 frame with Chassis coat, it looks good, next time I'd use POR15 like on my tank, that looks really good and it's self levelling so you can do it with a brush.
Do you want it to look good or look perfect ?

In the end I sprayed it myself with POR15 - I now hear it is quite hard to spray POR15 properly, but you can brush it. It turned out average so got the local painter to 2K it gloss black which looked really sharp, but wasn't particularly petrol resistant as I found...

Heh heh, I was too lazy to take the engine out so a brush was the easiest thing to use, I hooked the thing off the garage in the air and wandered around all the nooks and crannies... Chassis coat was OK.
POR15 is shiny gloss but isn't UV stable so you need a top coat too (or it'll look milky in 6 months) MUCH better than chassis coat.
I wouldn't want to spray it, the stuff is lethal and you really need a mask with an air supply if you're gonna do that.
I did it outside on reasonable day, it dried pretty quick and then I went round and picked all the insects out :)
Hahaha, it sounds shit, but it looks pretty good really.
