View Full Version : The great calliper hunt.. (ride up noth sat 8th)

aff-man
8th February 2006, 07:52
Well as i've lost my calliper I'm going on another ride up north.... Will be taking pretty much the same route as last time....

meet westgate.... fuel in wellsford.....then on to the place starting with a P.... then onto that gas station we stopped to refill at........ then on to dargaville......

Now it gets tricky.... Cause i'll be stopping off for a bit for a thourough search for my calliper... Then on through the forest etc etc etc...

Leaving westgate at 9:45. might be more suited to the medium riders.

Cheaper to buy Jono, or is this something you need to do and it's a mint ride up North?

:killingme yep I think it maybe the 2nd part mate. Would've been frustrating losing it that close to the best part of monday's ride.
Shouldn't be a problem sorting a few of the boys 'n girls out from up these ways to show you guys some more on offer up here....oh and look for the caliper too:Oops:
Got a new front tyre yesterday and it needs a scrub'n I tell ya!

If TL Rider and the Northern crew are on the Great Northern Calliper hunt, then how may I ask is one to spot a dirty calliper lying in the grass at 200 Kmh plus.

No need to fear people..... I am getting the caliper replaced... I just want my new Pads out of it and if it's in good nick i'll sell it to recouple some of my losses.....

Maybe might have to look after the kids on the WE. Let you know a bit closer to the day.

Yeah I forgot that gixxer 6 Hundies can't get past 200Kmh. Custard said he had his yellow peril up to some ungodly speed chasing TL Rider and crew. That was one wicked section of road from P. :headbang:

There is a difference between chinese and japanese products, namely price and quality...

Since when were mini shoppers bikes?

thats why i said "bike" lol

and affman :

if the caliper came off......how did it manage to break the hydralic hose?.......

did the caliper go through the wheel i'm guessing and just ripped the hose off?

Nope i got braided likes but the bit that snapped was the bit that the hose connects to ... So the brake line is fine but the end bit snapped.

Good golly gosh now that's just being a nutter :innocent:  We're all way too innocent for that sort of carry on...

Well it looks like at least 5+ riders from these ways that'll be in for saturday's ride so will be fun...oh and we can also look for said caliper too right?

yeah especially when you expect there to be brakes to slow you down and when you don't have them it gets messy ......geez i'm guessing you wernt going too hard into the corner then or just really had to go hard lean through it?

Yeh if you read my thread about said incident you'll notice i made a quote::

Kornholio says: if you want to go faster through a corner.... loose the ability to brake.

9th February 2006, 22:11
LOL... fat chance of finding the said Calliper.... but heck... I might come and look for it on the road.... (hopefully I don't run over it)

Will be good to see u Aff. :)

skidMark
9th February 2006, 22:44
i'm predicating it has most likely been squished by a vehicle with at least 18 wheels .....at least 50 times

either that or it's happily off to the side of the road

Dont want to be a wet blanket on your search, but we lost the pack ..,shown, on the road north of Taumarunui. Now it happens to be a bit bigger than a calliper, and we never found our pack. So like me you will just have to accept it as one of those embarrassing events that happen occassionally !!

Ahhh but do you know the exact place it came off.... within about 5m??

I do and that there is probably the difference.

Plus if someone spots a pack they're likely to grab it. Who wants an old fucked caliper that's been bounced down the road at 120k's that probably looks like a rough rusty hunk of metal by now? Bahahahaha!!!

Sorry Aff, hehe.

Well After getting the new calliper on yesterday. I decided to go looking for the other one (not a chance in hell but hey i get to finally do the forest road...

Get to westgate to meet up with DM and one of Zapf's mates.... but no Zapf.... Wait fro 20mins after the leave time and still no Zapf. So the three of us head off at a moderate pace up to wellsford where DM and Zapf's mate decide to head back...

So I trundel on to meet some of the northern boys at papamoa?

To make a long story short we headed out did some riding did a little searching and talked some shit...

Had a great day and after 716km of beautifull roads I'm sure i'll be up that way pretty soon...

Good roads, good company (except for the cheeky fella on the gixxer thow) and great weather, what more could you want..

Highlight of the day: doing the forest road... it is most excellent..

Bad point of the day: Going to have to tell the bike shop that there is a difference between a little spoungy and "oh my God I'm gonna die"

Cheers ladies and gents , I'll see ya soon
