!!AWESOME!!

Thanks Riff Raff & WT for a well organised FUN day!!! :niceone:

Didn't manage any wheelies to be proud of although i did my first 'clutched' wheelie today; Thanks WT for the pointers...!!! The slick tarmac gave me the heebiejeebies and this nana shat himself so i didnt even do any power wheelies :violin:

Man those R1's fly... and a 10.0X time is FAST!!!!

I managed an 11.44 best time which was a huge improvement from my first run of 13.14 and not bad for the slow Honduh! I thought i was gonna give Zed the learn especially as i had him of the start only to see him fly past me to own my ass at the finish line :niceone: nice work bro!!!

To the Yami(6r) and Gixxer (750,1000) riders i'll let you boys or should i say nana's tell the story :bleh: :moon: and I won't mention the learn i got from mouse :msn-wink: 10 runs, 6 learns handed out, 4 learns recieved and i managed to use more testosterone and adrenaline than i have in years.. oh and i need another rear tyre :pinch:

Top Day, Top fun and wicked company thanks everyone  awesome to see the likes Of Bruce, WT, Zed etc doing the HUGE wheelies and Tex and Mark fight it out for fastest moped :weird:

Cheers all,
Boomer :scooter:

Big thumbs up to WT, RR and Larry, you guys rock. :2thumbsup Shame there weren't any other 4 hundies to drag, but i had an awesome time playing with myself. (Get your minds out of the gutter boys!) Managed to beat my best time from the last drags, 12.7 which isn't too shabby for an old girl on an old 400. Talking to the other riders there it sounded like everyone was having fun. Thanks for an awesum day everyone!

Sweet day, not only did I get to watch bikes doing stunts and dragging along with some impressive cars, I got to drag myself ... all for free, now thats SWEET :D

Good turn out by the looks of things too and it seemed like everyone was enjoying themselves. Got a few decent photos I'll upload later.

Thanks to all involved

must say thanks to the organisers - Riff Raff and Whitetrash, and also to Larriken and Mouse for putting on a really good show. Managed to get an 11.77 out of the R6, got learnt by Affman and Boomer, but think i bet all other challengers. I did beat boomer once, but he took it overall 2 out of 3.

Pic is of SpeedMedic and his new ride, for those of you that havent seen it.

Tooo right ... and now if you could learn to wheelie the R6 and not almost crash the yzf750 you'll be set. :thud: :thud:

I must say there were some seriously fast drags going on... my best was an 11:63 and was doing around the 192km/h mark at the end.

i think those extra teeth woulda helped your drag time by letting your bike rev out faster, as we were nowhere near top speed - even for you with the different gearing.

i need more practice on that YZF before i can do anything impressive, but i did manage a couple of good 2nd gear hooks, sadly they were out of sight of everyone :brick:

Need some rugged fairings and crash bungs for the R6 then i wont be so worried about dropping it :sweatdrop but the wheelies are getting better.

Well despite missing out on the first drag & stunt sessions I still had a great day thanks R/R & Co, and good work in the tower Jimmy!

I've never been on the dragstrip before so I was chuffed with my virgin efforts, admittedly I lost my first drag to the chick in red leathers riding the Alstare gixxer (sorry don't know your KB name, but well done), but the next 4 drags I managed to win, and some just by a whisker eh D/Monkey! Times & speeds were as follows:

1. 11.69, 205.9kmph.
2. 11.49, 201.2kmph.
3. 11.44, 203.5kmph.
4. 11.14, 206.4kmph.
5. 11.21, 206.4kmph.

I was disappointed with my stunting, just couldn't get into the groove and the strip surface freaked me a bit, I did manage to hook 3rd, 4th, and 5th in one attempt though...still had alot of fun out there, it would have been better having both lanes going for stunting!

Great to see a good turnout and many familiar faces, looking forward to the next one already, and next time I'll make sure I'm there on time.

My only run on the gixx was 11.08, and the one run I did on Draco's 400 was a lowly 13.2 :tugger:
I wanna say thanks to Spankme for letting me try to destroy his SV too, only rode it like 20 feet then was doing wheelies on it (never been on a SV before) Thanks mate, you're a brave man :niceone:

Yeah thank you very very much Mr White Trash and Miss Riff Raff, had a primo day, worth every cent aye! Especially beating White Trash haha  Would have paid $70.00 just to tell him I beat him after he was skiting about his 10.49!... nah had a ball, managed to do the best wheelies I have ever done and got in some good practise for race starts, best time managed was a 10.38 before it all seemed to fall to pieces.

Oh, and just watched the DVD too, thanks to those that put it up as a prize, some wicked footage on there!

Thanks to everyone who turned up. I got a huge buzz out of seeing the enjoyment on everyones faces. In fact all of us here are still buzzing. And amazingly I'm still awake!!!!

It was worth all the effort put in to set up the day. I can't believe how smoothly it all went and that we had no injuries.

Next time I'll make sure the day isn't at the end of my night shift so I can have a few goes myself.

Thanks again to everyone who didn't let the early morning weather put you off. Turned into a minter of a day.

I bet it was a great day :spudwave:

Was a good day for all. Personally, I didn't have much luck with the stunting. The wheelies just weren't working for me today (very nasty tankslapper on my 2nd run probably didn't help) and in the end I threw my toys out of the cot, parked up, and just watched everyone else.

The drags were pretty good though, Had 12 runs all up with mixed results, 5 of which were sub11 seconds. Managed a 10.69 @ 217.6kph with wheelspin off the line. So pretty happy with that and know there's better to be had.

I only know Daryl P and 2Much and those biys had big grins on the clock too, so i can only assume they loved it! The're probably still in the pub havin a

Didn't get home till 2030, got a serious problem with the bike that I'm gonna have to get sorted out. It keeps stopping outside any pub I pass.

Don't what ever you do ask 2Much about the moccachino drinker that gave him the learn.. he'll flip his lid :killingme :nya:

Arhh fuck, it's started already.... Yep Boomer gave me the learn. I red lighted so wheelied all the way down the strip. Was quite fun sitting upright cruising along next to him as he was lent over the bike going for bust and then popping a wheelie:yes: haha. But not to take anything away from him... with all my pissing around he did cross the line first so I'll let him have that.

Just remember that it's best of 3 mate, and the score is 1-1!!!

Mochachino my arse, we all know you've got a soft spot for Earl Gray, nancy boy!

Big ups to all the organisers for the fantastic event held yesterday, mainly RiffRaff the legened!!!!

Awesome effort for Lariken and mouse to make it all the fukin way from Hastings and also Fizzer man from Wellington! The show wouldn't have been half as good with out seeing your awesome skills! :not:

I made some progress on the R6 I think, which I was happy with. Cheers Texmo for letting me borrow your scooter! I think I got a nice 200m wheelie going in that thing, which felt fukin cool!!

I've never really been interested in dragracing and I thought I'd find out what all the hype was about. I definetly had fun, I must admit and it's great to find out what your bike can do in a 1/4 mile.

Here are my times on my R6:

1) 11.42 @ 198.5
2) 11.31 @ 204.6
3) 11.03 @ 202.9
4) 11.06 @ 204.6
5) 11.74 @ 196.3
6) 10.98 @ 207.0 Woooo motha fukin hooo!!!

Cheers again guys, that was fukin fun!!!! :Punk:

9th April 2006, 13:36
Yes, thank you guys very much. Was an awesome day.

Despite a couple of embarrasing starts the best we managed on the X11 was 11.62
The YZF was very consistent around 12.6x

As a matter of interest what gear were you guys and girls crossing the finish line in.
The X11 was in third and the Yamaha in 6th.

good point... i was just getting to 200ish so would make it 3rd-4th, i seemed to be getting to a change just before the boards... which i'm assuming was into 4th.

forgot to say thanks for letting me give the YZF-750 a thrash, and apologize for the couple of times it looked (and felt) like i was gonna drop it  I'm sure after a bit more practice we'll have it steady on the back wheel! :soon:

The Stranger
9th April 2006, 14:30
Would be interested to see then if you dropped a tooth on the rear what happens to your time. You would loose the extra change then.

I think dropping 2 teeth on the Yamaha would have put me at max speed right on the line.

I feel that the X11 would have benefited from going up a couple of teeth to push me right to the top of powerband in third at the line.

Oh well, just musing, next time.

Hey don't worry about the YZF, I wasn't, that's what it's there for.

9th April 2006, 15:27
Righto I've caught up on some sleep, so I can do a proper post now.

The weather at the start of the day resulted in my carefully planned schedule being thrown out the window. Thankfully the Weather God and Goddess actually have a soft spot for bikers and decided to dump the daytime rain quota at the start of the day to ensure the rest of the day was good for us. Once we got the day underway it all ran very smoothly. Everyone was well behaved and no one was injured (except for Larriken in a beer-fuelled moment after the event, but that's another story, and there's no prizes for guessing that the pit bike was involved).

Unfortunately the last minute change to our end time for the day was a bummer, but I think most people got more runs down the strip than they thought they would anyway, so it's all good.

I was planning on getting out there myself, but with everyone turning up at different times during the morning once they realised it wasn't cancelled, I was kept busy sorting them out. With my scrutineers all out on the track I had to do a bit of that myself using the "yep it's got two wheels, go for it" method. By the time everyone had turned up I had caffeine overload from the No-Doz tablets I'd been popping, and felt it would be unsafe for me to hop on a bike with the shakes I had going. I settled for videoing the day but quality is a bit rough in places due to the aforementioned caffeine shakes! I had a great time watching everyone, and seeing the improvements people made through the day. You all made Aunty Riff Raff very proud for taking part in the very first stunting/dragging event in New Zealand.

I'd like to say big thanks to the following people for all their help on the day:
Trevor from Champion Dragway for making it all run smoothly. Trev is very keen for us to all come back again and had a blast watching the stunting.
Lynita, Mr Me, Grunta, Cookie, Enigma who all did bits and pieces during the day, but most importantly helped to gather times for the drag racing.
Lionel - one of my colleagues from work and a KBer (but he can't remember his login name!). He came to spectate, but as an Advanced Paramedic he brought a kit with him and was on hand should the worst have happened to provide advanced life support. We're all grateful we didn't need his services, nor those of the ambulance I hired for the day.
To all the photographers who were there, a big thankyou for getting some wicked shots. Big Dave has some particularly awesome shots and I look forward to seeing them in Kiwi Rider magazine. There was also a professional photographer there. He will have photos uploaded onto his site this week ( www.dragpixs.co.nz ) and you can order photos from him ($20 for an A4 size photo).

As mentioned in WT's thread thanking our sponsors, big thanks go to Motomail, Kiwi Rider magazine, Big Dave, Bent Rim Productions, SpankMe and Dodgyiti.

A big thanks to all those who travelled from far afield to take part in this day. I believe Fizzerman and Mrs Fizz take the award for travelling the furthest, followed by Larriken and Mouse.

Prizes of the day went to:
DSS3 - fastest drag time overall. He won a Chicks Dig Scars DVD and a Scared Sheep Squadron t-shirt.
Quickchk - fastest female drag time - Chicks Dig Scars DVD
Sam Barling won the subscription to Kiwi Rider magazine for stunting.
Swanman was awarded a consolation prize pack (which included duct tape, electrical tape and a few other goodies) for letting his bike kiss the ground.
Waylander also got one of these packs for doing the same thing on the way to Meremere. :niceone:

For all those who were interested in the design for the Scared Sheep Squadron logo, we have NC to thank for it. When she came to Auckland to pick up the TL she kindly allowed me to thrust pencil and paper at her and drew exactly what I had in mind. Thanks chick it gave me the basic design to play with and expand.

The t-shirts came up great and I may look at doing some more for those who are interested.

Thanks everyone for being there, whether taking part or spectating! Of course special mention has to go to White Trash who has had to put up with my stressed state while organising it and who took over on the day to ensure it all went smoothly. His commentary during the drag racing was very humourous too - Trev was so impressed he asked him to come back today to do the commentating for the nationals!!!
Larriken has also been of great help over the last few weeks with ideas and advice.

With the success of this one, you can all be assured that I will be organising another one!

Shame about the wind though, found it took some getting used to the lowered gearing i had put on, so no real tricky stuff from, me played around a little bit down the end of the strip, but yeah, sorry to everyone for the rather loud and horrible sounding muffler i threw on, didnt really wanna bin it with my good pipe on, so on with the crap one, shit i cracked up everytime i got off teh throttle lol, so yeah sorry about that.
Mint to catch Larriken and Mouse, nice shit guys, will see you out and about no doubt, cheers to Riffy and Trashy and all those invovled in getting this shit up and running, next time will be even better i'm sure.
Big ups to all those that came along and took part as well, some cool shit going on, and great to see more than a few people improving, Motoracer for one, some of those wheelies are looking mint mate, and Gixser you're carrying that front up mighty high now, keep the shit up.

Till next time, oh and more photo's guys, and thanks to those taking pics, good shit.

Mouse was riding a 750. The very one I totaled when it was almost brand new in November 98. He also runs 14-61t gearing on the sprockets. Was leaving the line in third gear.

10 years drag racing experiance might'a helped a bit too.
