That's why entry is in advance. There will be no entries on the day to prevent undesirables trying to crash the party!

just a quick question to clear this up - we spend the day at the track doing our own thing (stunts/drags whatever) and then stay behind to watch 'dragwars' in the evening? (if we wish to do so?)

either way im their, just thought we should make it clear...

...
I don't know if there are dragwars happening that evening. IF there are then you can stay and watch them, but you will have to pay whatever fees they charge for that. Prices quoted here are for the track from 8.30 to 4.30 and have nothing to do with any events that are happening in the evening.

It's up and running.

There'll be more than a couple of gurus in attendance for tips and advice, mostly free. Unfortunately two of the highest class riders wont be there which suits me to the ground as it makes me look better.

Role up role up, be part of the first ever dedicated (legal) stunt day in NZ!

I will be keen for a few runs down the quarter. How will this work in with the guys wanting to do a bit of stunt action, and will the quarter mile times be timed properly? Pay on the day or you need cash up front.
Got a few guys probably keen on it.

White trash
14th February 2006, 20:53
Hey busadayz.

Drag racing and stunting sessions will be run at different times throughout the day. Timing will be handled by Champion Dragways Xmas tree and timing equipment. In the interest of keeping it sipmle, I'd imagine we'll run grudge match style racing with both bikes leaving the line at the same time.

Entry will be by pre payment only as we don't want 150 bikes turning up on the day we haven't counted on.

Hope this helps.

spectators will be payment on the day otherwise it's just too difficult to keep track of and would require printing of tickets etc.

Safety gear - as per track days - leather or cordura gear for drags. I'm just looking into the legalities from my position as organiser for those doing stunts. I understand it is harder to do stunts in full gear, but there will definately have to be protective gear worn - full face helmet, back protector, knee and elbow pads, boots that come up above the ankles etc.

As for being a learner on a bigger bike - this event is not on a public road. If you choose to ride your bike to and from the track then that is at your own risk.

aff-man
15th February 2006, 19:12

What sort of scruiteneering does the bike have to go through??

Why is that?? If i get a 525 sprocket shouldn't the chain fit on??

White trash
16th February 2006, 07:37
The chain will most likely be a little short. Depends on how big the rear sprocket is. I got mine from Motomail.

And I'm not replacing the chain, I'm making the axle holes in the swingarm bigger so I can move the wheel forward more. True trash!

Scrutineering of bike involves checking brakes, tyres, fork seals, and checking for any leaks etc. Basically your bike needs to be 'road-worthy' so make sure it is before bringing it down. Gear check will be done at the same time so you need to be wearing your gear and have your helmet and gloves with you.

Hmmm well then the Jimmy's honda is definatley out

I asked a quezzy earlier about this "road worthy" cause if i can't afford a set of old fairings i'll probably want to get there early and take just about everything off the bike that it won't need to run.

OK people, you're not aware of how much actual works gone into getting this as far along as it is now. Riff raff's put everything into this and now we're asking you to put your money where your mouths are.

PM either myself or Riff raff with at least your intent to attend.

Maximum respect to the guys that are paid up and ready to go.

We need a heel of alot more riders, not just for the stunting but the drag racing too. All you racers should be chomping at the bit to improve your starts.

There's also some great sponsors donating some wicked prizes already, details will follow but this day is shaping up to be legendary already.

So get PMing!!!

For the length of time you have the track hired, you could run over 100 racers and stunters.

We have hired Meremere before, we got around 60 cars and 2 bikes. Including running around helping out, I got as many runs on my bike and in my car as I could be bothered with (more than I could count).

Mark, me and Riff raff are currently in discussions. I say "let the cunts ride naked, who cares" she's like "We've got to be responsible hosts"

These are my thoughts. Proper riding jacket leather or textile, if you must be a hero (like me) then a body armour jacket beneath a sweatshirt will do. Above the ankle boots. Probably either riding pants or kevlar reinforced jeans or two pair of jeans or some shit.

Remeber people, this is an ORGANISED EVENT, someone always stands to get their wrists slapped.

As for safety gear requirements - will put that up tonight after work.I think it's up to the organiser/s as to what the safety gear requirements will be, I just ask that we don't make it too strict or else it will discourage some from coming. It seems that there are still quite a number of KBers who don't have a *full* set of gears but who do own the absolute necessities of helmet, boots, and gloves. I suppose in their minds they've never needed full leathers/cordura for the type of riding they do...might be time for them to have a bit of a re-think though? :spudwhat:

SwanTiger
24th February 2006, 12:01
I have everything bar riding pants and prefer it that way (I wear jeans instead), so I think, and its probably biased, that top end armour, gloves, boots and of course a helmet should be the only safety gear.

Don't know if I can be bothered taking part. Need a bigger freak'n bike.

But seriously, what is the point in making it a nanna event! Make a minimum safety gear recommendation and if people don't obey it then they must pay for the ambo time or something along those lines, should they crash.

Some people may like hurting themselves and acheive great satisfaction from it, so what is the point in disatisfying their needs? Let the bastards die if they must.

Remeber people, this is an ORGANISED EVENT, someone always stands to get their wrists slapped.

ill do you a deal.....sneakers.....2 pairs of socks 2 pairs of jeans

and either 2 t-shirts and the leather jacket because mine aint padded or.....a t shirt a hoodie and then my leather jacket LOL

cmon i can't affore gear right now and gn's don't exactly go warp nine

mmmmmmmm Gear, Gear, Gear. It never fails to get people upset. I'm a freewill kide of guy, but I do realise that if shit hits the fan at an event............bang, there goes events like this in the future!

At an organised event you do have to have a minimum requirement. What that is, hey, who knows! Here's my two cents.

Gloves, mx, leather, michael jackson shiny white ones, as long as they are gloves. A helmet, for sure. Boots, not shoes (I do admit that I cringe seeing guys ride in sneakers). Trousers, mmm, hard one. I don't wear leather pants when farting around doing wheelies, I hate them and it is just plain horrible. I do wear dragging jeans and knee pads though (sometimes). Leather or armoured jacket, yep, a must for an event.

That's my thoughts anyways!

You're welcome. Used some influence because I think it's a great idea and you are to be commended.
Get this stuff off the back streets and on the track with an ambo etc is where it belongs.

As before, Stretch Lupton has said he'll come down and put on a bit of a KR show and a brief chat with young Mr Pratt at AMPS seems hopeful that Sean King might be available for a few of his mind boggling tricks too. To be confirmed.

We prolly need to nominate a demo event timetable to give them and publicise.

Doh - I'll fix that poster right now too.

So - if you are happy with this, I can post a URL for a B&W 150dpi A4 print file that KBers could download, print out and stick on their bike shop notice board for eg. - if you are chasing more bodies.

I have nominated 1400 hrs as the demo/show time. - Any obs?

To get a rain date, we would have to have paid the track hirage a long way in advance, which we obviously haven't done.

The good news is, that if the weather does turn to custard, we can cancel and book another day.

Hi Guys

I am helping someone can help me out. I need someone/s to do abit of filming for me at the Stunt Skills day on the 8th April. If you are going as a spectator/rider and have will be taking vid footage, could I use it? All tapes will be returned and I will hook anyone up with a copy of Chicks Dig Scars DVD for your help.

Main reason for this is a)my brother can't come up with me and he does all the filming when I am riding b) there is no way I am filming all day and missing out on riding! Yes, I am a greedy bugger! I will still get the camera out myself, but it's hard to focus on filming when you want to ride as well.

Your help will be much appreciated. Suitable footage from this will be used to edit a section on the very first NZ Stunt Day on Chicks Dig Scars Number Two! If your footage is used your name will appear in the credits as well.

PM me if you are keen.

Cheers

Cool. I caught up with Sam last weekend at the AMC track day at Puke and he's really keen. Silly bugger thought he had to audition: - after some furious waving to attract my attention at the start he then did a mint wheelie from the dummy grid to the first corner, and several down the front straight on each pass, resulting in him getting a bollocking from the organisers!

I've just had the worst moment of panic.... Been dealing with this guy called William at Champion Dragway - I'd already come to the conclusion that he was useless, but as the only person to deal with there I've had to grin and bear it. I don't know how many times I've rung him or emailed him, and my frequent requests for paperwork from him confirming booking etc have been met with yeah don't worry it's all confirmed.

Well today I got an email from the dragway to say he no longer worked there and when was my booking for???? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh. Thankfully I spoke to a very switched on lady by the name of Wendy who has placed our booking and will have contract out to me today. Unfortunately the price William quoted me for the track does not include the electronic timing - if we want that we'd have to find another $1,000 which aint going to happen. So timing is going to have to be done the old fashioned way with someone sitting in the tower and writing it down. I think we can cope with that.

Hoping to go down there in the next few days and make sure I've thought of everything and that there's no other surprises.

Feel sorry for Wendy - our track day isn't the only one William stuffed up, and she's got a huge task on her hands sorting out the mess. Thank goodness he hadn't booked someone else for the same day!

Rant over, now I can breathe again!

Rant over, now I can breathe again!

vebal contracts are law....they are obligated to provide all the services that were offered....I'll ring em if ya want....been in this situation before [well not organising a stunt/drag event...but similar cicumstances]

I knew it was getting bad down there froggy, but my god :shit: , there really needs to be an alternative route past the rappa, oh wait there is SH1, but that gets rid of the Welly KB crew and the tuka's, so something that goes right around the rappa, the rappa needs to be isolated. Just think if poo's got loose and started making little poo's around the country, that is assuming he hasn't already, i'm mighty suspect about texmo's upbringing.

Well if everyone who has registered pays (and I have some doubts about a couple of people), then I need probably another 3 or 4 stunters and or at least another 10 people doing drags. Would like to see more people doing the drags to make it competitive- still small numbers there. So comeon folks get yourselves registered to do drags.

.....to get your eyes checked, at no stage anywhere in this thread have I indicated that I would be wishing to attend, my only involvment in this whole Drag/stunt day thingy, will be to provide suffcient fire extingushers for Sue in the unlikley event that one of you wannabes set's fire to your bike.

so now that we have that sorted out will you please "Fuck off" and do some work, I have had a good offer on the shares, but I need you to actually do some work today, with the hope that some small effort from you will raise productivity of my modest portfoilo and I can buy a new dirt bike with the proceeds of my share sale.
