Hey people, I gave my bike a fender chop on the weekend and mounted my rego nice and tidily behind the plate. When the bike is on the side stand and you are standing beside the bike you can see the rego where it is.
Does anyone know if there is a law on where you can and can't mount them?? Is where I mounted mine ok?

My WOF is mounted exactly the same as yours, and my Rego is in a similar holder at the opposite end of the plate. Been like this for nearly 3 years now with no probs. You can hardly read it by the time it expires either, after a years worth of water and dirt have seeped in to the holders from trail riding.

Fishslayer i am lead to believe you don't have to show them, eg my rego/wof are in my toolkit under the rear cowl. as long as you can produce them if/when pulled over
even tho the cops radios to check anyway.

Next time I see ya can you look at my rear end (!!)and let me know whether I can shorten it....I have got a tail thingy but not keen on cutting bits..

Would've thought under the seat would see you nicked for not display a current registration. Seeing as the fine is for not displaying, actually having a rego might not even get you off :o
/edit: You could rotate it slightly, so that the corner just sticks out from the bottom of the plate. That way the rego biddies will spot it (saving you a fine), and it'll still look ok.

Quasievil has had some experience with this, I remember reading something about it. I'll go find it.

quasi was fined by the evil meter maids. They are another story
Most meter maids in tga don't even both looking at bikes, and the like
I have been pulled over, cop didn't even ask to look at rego/wof, and all i show on back is plate.

Heh yeah, I did assume parking wardens were what you were worried about. If you've been stopped, then showing the rego obviously isn't a problem :)

Either really, wasn't sure if cops could give you shit about mounting it somewhere that wasn't clearly visable to Joe Bloggs.

Shouldn't be a problem where you have it - as long as its visible to anyone looking (cops or meter maid).
Wouldn't really recommend keeping it under the seat... you can't really say it is displayed and if you get a cop looking for a ticket to hand out, that will be an easy one to give.

Was fined a few years ago for having my rego and warrant under the seat of my MT250. "It must be visible " said the nice uniformed gentleman

If you are displaying it then you should be ok.
But unless you want to spend half your life arguing $200 tickets then it should be obvious.
You could try making a dymo sitcker for your plate which says rego "behind plate"....

I've got my rego and WOF in the same place (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=14555&d=1124671685), never had a prob. But yeah, Quaz got a ticket for it. Can't remember what he did about it, and if he got off it..
Just makes the bike nice and clean in appearances, but it does get covered in crap during the winter tho

Mine is just under the plate, could put the WOF there as well but........

Yeah and I think to avoid having trouble it should be fairly visable as Traffic wardens aint working in Rocket Science for good reason.

Mate of mine just got a $200 ticket from a "meter maid" for having an illegible licence on his GN.
He had it folded in half and stuffed in his WOF holder.
Odd bits:
1. He was parking for free in a 'bike park, so she was specifically looking for licence/wof problems; not checking them as an aside to checking for parking infingements. That feels wrong.
2. He didn't get ticketed for having no WOF. As an Aussie, and knowing he had to have one first to get his licence - he figured he did not need it any more and binned it. Left him a great place to put the licence...
Cheers,
Ixion

I'd contest vthat. If it's the "normal" WOF holder you can see through both sides, front and back (have to be able to in order to read both sides of the WoF). So both sides of the rego (licence) would have been legible. Nothing in the rules says it must be fixed flat.
