OK I work in the Viaduct Basin Akld and across the road from work there is a BEAST moored... I know it ain't a bike but I'll bet the people on board share all the same feelings/ adrenalin rushes etc... as us bikers! It is a thing of beauty!
BTW I believe it runs on Energy efficient environmentally friendly fuel...

Cool boat BB, might have to pop down and see it in the flesh, any idea how long it's moored there for?
Had a read thru that Herald article, the $300,000 wave-piercer was built in my back yard here in Whenuapai, gotta be good for NZ, and he was right in predicting the price of Diesel rising significantly way back in Sept last year!
And Colapop, it's recycled 'animal' fat, not human dude. :bye:

But as part of his marketing of the project he got some fat removed from himself to show people that human fat can be used in bio diesel as well.
And the guy who is organising this whole thing is Pete Bethune, he currently lives in Torbay.
This whole project is due for launch this Friday (24th).

I guess they must be assured a supply of bio diesel around the whole course, but it won't be the NZ lard based bio diesel...not that matters,it'll run on anything.Nice boat, very nice.

Thats one mean looking floaty ! Bit of a turn off in my book that it uses "Energy efficient environmentally friendly fuel..." , Id prefer it to have a dirty big supercharged V8 or turbo`d 12 under that bad boy! :niceone:

Yeah except the images are over the text and you cant read about the boat.. grrr I want to see some specs.
That's the problem with Content Managed Websites, once the client starts updating his own content all design and useability principles go out the window......sorry dude

Looks alright but what do the "wings" do, not the outriggers but the things poking up inside them?!

I think that's where they have the air intakes for the engines. Seeing as it submarines the best place to put them is as high as possible - so they fed it some Red Bull

I saw it on tv last night and thought it was one of the most incredible things I had ever seen. I wish them luck with their challenge.
It looks like something out of a James Bond movie, totally futuristic and another bit of proof that NZers are innovative!

Yeah another reason making me proud to be a Kiwi! Been checking out the website and trying to find out where it was built... Looks like West Akld which makes me wonder if it was Alloy Yachts??? Anyone know?

Just wandered past it. What a funky looking tub. Looks like it would submarine well in a large swell. That must be interesting to experience.

Great!
Now all we need is to find a minority to target and we will have a final solution to our future fuel needs
