D brought it past my work and I must say it is a very good looking piece of machinery. Except that pipe...

D and 'some strays' popped around with the Griso. Looks good- nice detailing and paint etc. Gigantic exhaust....
Is it really you though D? No wind protection, quiet as, not real quick? I reckon Guzzi will produce something more 'you' soon.

Sorry SP have too... they just left our place, and all I can say is that is the ugliest pipe I have ever seen!
However that aside, its quite nice! Not my cup of tea, but I can see why someone would want one.

ah well a time to have my say first... ;)
When I first got on it had to do a uturn on mina north road, anyone who knows the area knows it fkn busy, so pulled into a side street instead, then had trouble getting to turn it around cos the bars are so wide and I was kinds fully stretched! (and not in the way you dirty buggers :eek5: )
So managed to get it round, with D waiting...not so patiently for me I might add...typical. :yeah:
So off we go for a blat out to Rangiora. I was surprised at just how nimble it was, it felt really light, not much heavier than the Buell. The riding position is more upright than the Buell, with wider bars. Now I didn't mind the wide bars at all, but the angle to the levers is also flat on the bars so i was having to reach a lot, with my arms out wide in order to change gears/brake, that wasn't very comfortable. It would be a little better angle a few degrees angled in for me personally, but prob fine for most blokes with bigger hands. Once I figured out how to taking off in first: ride the clutch and bit and actually give it some revs ( my bike just fkn takes off, almost no revs /throttle required) it was sweet.
Very comfy seat and apart from the my poor sore hands trying to change gear it was very smooth, and actually fairly quick acceleration. I found it a bit strange barely being able to hear the motor, even the V11 I can hear better... that pipe would HAVE to go!
As I normally ride an almost naked bike I didn't find the wind much problem, about the same as the Buell i think...altho there wasn't much at the time i was on the griso so it seemed the same to me.
I was actually impressed with it. It seemed light to manouvre, quite different to the Buell (easier tho as my bike has no turning circle at all), so that would take a little getting used to, but I think I could almost add this bike to my 'perfect bike garage' one day...and so far it only contains the Buell, nothing else has quite made the grade yet ;)
...I WAS IMPRESSED!
oh yeah and one piccie of me on it.

Nice write-up, the bar problem sounds like it would not be too hard to fix, and the muffler? well a few $$ will 'fix' that too!
PS:
I know what you mean about not needing to use any revs to take-off, I'm so use to letting the clutch out and THEN opening the throttle on my bike I stall just about any other bike first time I go to move off.

Hey Rashika you're making me drawl -so do you reckon if I got it a real muffler (not right having a guzzi you can't hear) it'll be the ideal new ride for me then?
Hey nadroj that bike is a Breva 1100 I think.
Cheers

Well fuck me people...... Its nothing like a Guzzi yet so much like a Guzzi.
Sitting on the Griso is a semi sports position with a wide handle bar and open view ahead.
On start up the Griso starts like all Guzzi's with a lean to the left and a v8 type crack as it fires up. The usual pull to the left as you ride the clutch out in 1st, a high gear as usual however the gears (all 6) are closer togeather than normal. Whereas a v11 bike would be pulling 4grand at 120kph the Griso is only pulling 110kph so altho its easier in the hills and around town I think that the top end would be reduced.
Now I'm not used to a naked bike so the clear view in front was great it felt like I was riding on a carpet, the Griso is the smothest Guzzi I have ridden.
The pipe muffles the exhaust note a lot, but when the bike is wound up from 4grand the sound is magic, with the usual induction sound, comes a 2 into 1 purr not to disimiler to the Aprila RSV's.
The 1st thing I noticed was how light the bike felt for a Guzzi and how easy it was to manouvre through town.
This is were the ride begins, I picked up Rashika and then we meet up with 30UTD and SuzyQ. Through the tunnel and around the bays after a visit to TonyB's
Over gebbies pass and we were on our way to the Hilltop for a bite to eat and a drink.
On the open rd I can tell theres no fairing protection and the lower arms are feeling like they will fall of before long but suprisingly it becomes rather comphy, and at faster speeds it gets no worse.
The sweepers are awesome the Griso taking them effortlessly. Into the hills and I soon become aware how easy the Guzzi is to ride.... now a Guzzi is a very good handling bike at speed some what heavy at slower speeds but the Griso is unbelievable, so NOT guzzi in the tight n curlys.
Cornering is as wicked as it gets I reckon that if the bike was run in and I was able to thrash the bitch that it would no doubt be the fastest Guzzi ever in the hills.
On the way back I was becoming far more familier with the naked style and that even the slightest movement of the body like the shoulders would have the bike responding in a very managable way, the bike is so controllable I just cant believe its Guzzi.
well bad points IMHO is the bloody huge and horrid can, also the didgie speedo is unlike a Jappa that has a 7 crystal display, the Griso is all one so it looks like a child drew a very basic and square number on the dash.
Good points... the handling, it is fantastic, very light and so much like a Buell its not funny.
The Griso is very well finished and has a very solid feel and look to it.
I rate the Grisso to the max. Pity that it still has the same HP as the 1st 1100 in 96 even tho it has a redesigned engine including a twin spark head and single sided swingarm with a new 6 speed gear box.
Bugger it I want one and one day soon... I'll bloody well have one.
Big thanks t Rashika who actualy won a w/e ride on a 1100Breva at the Guzzi Rally last year for having the best non Iti bike and decided to wait till the Griso came out and give the keys to me.
all up over 400k in two days and its still inm the garage... I feel a sicky comming up :scooter:

Good write-up D, if I did most of my riding one-up I would really consider one with a Buell being my other choice.
I like the Grizos look - big can and all, and the only neg thing on it is as Dangerous said - the naff instrument pod - twin dials is the only way imho.
EDIT: On looking back at the pics I'd have one of those zorst can out each side - but that just me!
(I think they'd go well with the tassles)

yeah, I found that I didn't really have any more foot on the ground than on the Buell, its not so much tall as just wide. So until it got shortened a little bit you would still have trouble, I'm sad to say :(

I think the Griso is a hot lookin' machine. Been thinking about a Guzzi as my next bike.
Had a ride on a Buell M2 Cyclone in the weekend and loved it. I liked the feel of a sporting v-twin machine.

Of course! and Oh yes the Bd pressie arrived a week ago now, very cool! Goes with my T shirt and cap nicely... and funnily enough Eric Woods has just got some Buell stock including clothing in, BUT none of the bits I have :) nya nya na nya nya

Tassles should increase the value, obviusly. Twin over-head foxtails could be the go too. Thes would probably give it 3 extra ponies to boot.
I'm with you on the twin exhaust, but not cans. Good point about the instruments as well.
