Anyone know the answer to this and could you tell me at what age a motorcycle is classed as veteran or vintage and does it then become eligible for cheaper registration/licensing?

The terms are often used loosely, but the strict, original, definition was veteran = Pre 1919. Vintage = pre 1932. These were the original UK definitions , which we followed. They have been imported into law in Australia, but not, I think, here. There is also a term for pre 1905 (which qualify for the Brighton Run), But I can't remember what it is.

Classic has no strict definition, but is usually restricted to vehicles over 25 or 30 years old (which also meet other subjective criteria)

For cheaper [about $80 per year or so] vintage licencing its when the vehicle is over 40 years old,ie made B4 1966 ,also it then doesnt need to be continuosly licenced & can lapse for over 2 years B4 needing more money thrown at it

Cheap rego (on cars anyway) is for vehicles over 40 years old - I should know, only one of our fleet is any younger (C.B.'s luxurious '84 Laser Ghia.)
And the rego is 1/2 price for the 'over 40s'

And if the rego finished on one month and you don't re-rego it until 7 or so months later? - no worries, unlike newer cars you don't pay for the 'inbetween' 7 months, great eh?:2thumbsup

Vintage is any wine I was given for Xmas,but would only drink as a last resort.On the sad day there is no booze in the house....I'm sure to find a bottle of some fizzy white wine gathering fluff.I'm not too fond of vintage.

Pre 1905 is usually 'Pioneer' I think...

Wellington classic club is for bikes over 20 years old.. My triumph is 1970 so only a few more years and cheap rego! Yippee!
