Not to bad but am really miffed.
Coming back from a mates house after seeing Fat Freddy's Drop at grey lynn
Coming up to lights put brakes on..
Front locks and tucks And bike and me go down the road..
Pro:
Not to much damaged to the bike... Crash bung it fecked, faring a bit scuffed up, not the muffler but pipe is a bit dented and scratched and the brake lever broke off at the end.
Con:
Did it right next to my mate in his ute so I won't hear the end of it for a while.

Sorry to hear that. Gotta watch those greasy intersections (not to mention the painted markings), not the best place for heavy braking.

What a bummer. Murphies law again. Get around the Coro loop without a mishap and a simple trip through town turns to custard :(
Ya reckon the front tyre finally said enoughs enough aye?

sorry to hear it AFF Man, think of it as luck though",, could have been far worse,, give the man a medal whom invented crash bungs"
aff-man
19th March 2006, 20:39
Yeh the crash bungs definatley saved most of the more valuable bits..
The only damage to gear (that I can see) is some scuffs on the front of my cordura jacket (where I slid on the ground), and some scuffs on my jeans and boots...
Was a pitifully sad incident and I just picked the bike up and rode home. It's just so annoying when that happens and there was nothing to prevent it..
And yes I think the front tyre was saying enough is enough....
there is minor damage to the fairing that if fixed will look like no crash happened at all... well that is after I replace the brake lever. So does anyone know a good touch up method?? Luckily it's basically in one quadrent so all I need is mainly the blue and a ittle white for the writing.

... well that is after I replace the brake lever.
careful doing maintanence on the brakes, double check all the bolts, not something you want falling off half way through a ride.........

Funny thing was I wasn't really trying to pull one. Allready showed him those skills earlier in the week.....:msn-wink: :innocent:
But yeh the fro acted like a parachute and gently lowered me to the ground so i think i'll keep it for now...
Dickheads in a car (in the lane which my fallen bike was sitting) just looked at me and then shouted something as they went passed...:finger::finger:

Sorry to hear about your bin. Glad it only really damaged your pride, it could have been worse.
I almost binned it yesterday and it really got the heart going! Turned left hard in the rain and the ass slid. Gave it a bit of gas and it pulled back into line.

Mounting bits are coming for the race farings this week so I'll get onto sorting them out. Then I won't have to worry about scratching the bike...ish:blink:

Damn, glad you ok.
Was just looking for the "Find my forks" run and I found this.
Do you feel the bike behaved any different to what you would expect as a result of the recent fork mods?

Bummer Jono, i can tell you one thing with almost certainity as to why it happened, yes it was the tyre, but no it wasn't cause the tyre was poked, yes to not having enough heat in it, one of the problems when using race tyres instead of road tyes, short trips and communtes dont get good enough heat onto them, i'd put money on that if you had a road tyre it would had a far less chance of happening.
Sounds like the damage isn't too bad, are you getting race fairings for it?

Yip totally agree mate... Although they say they loose thier stickyness after heaps of heat cycles (and I've done over 6000km on it), It was definatley cold tyres.
Yeh I got me some race fairings just waiting for the mountings to arrive later this week, sorting out some lights (to make it somewhat legal) and I think i'll put the expensive suzi ones away. Only thing is that it will piss off the GF if she can't go on the back now and again:buggerd:

Shocker Jono, glad it wasn't a major though. Sheesh i'd have thought your chance of looping it would be higher doing all that stunt practise, over just riding down the road and dropping it at the traffic lights!?
Put it behind you, learn from it, and move on buddy! :2thumbsup
