got a mate who took a honda CBR1000rr fireblade for a test ride and binned it. Writing the cheque for the bike while it sat at the bottom of a ravine apparently sucked quite a bit. i will try and get some photos, its a right off apparently. he just after re-couping some of his money.

but if anybody is interested in buying the carcass - pm me and i can pass on interested parties details.

private test ride? shouldn't a companies insurance cover the costs and you only have to pay the excess at most?

oh and go cart anyone?

Do you know any engineers who might be able to make up a frame? I have a spare turbo in my room from a 2 litre skyline which should do the trick

Yeah, what would us engimineers know. I wouldnt like to see it fly apart at 200 kph because your welds were shit :motu:

it was a private sale. the bike had under 1500km's on the clock.

i'm not mentioning names or places. but what he told me was he went down at 85k. possibly slippery road. the bike highsided, jumped, landed, bounced off the road and down the side of a bank.

mate was okayish, although spent a day or two in hospital as he was fully geared up bar a pair of jeans which the road ate through as he slid along it.

so apart from some pride, a small limp and a seriously dented wallet - he'll be fine.

i have one offer on the table already. will see if i can get pics soon.

WE would know a bit, but are you really going to go taking a cart out to 200? And if in doubt add more weld!

If it's from a single turbo setup, I suspect the resulting power curve would be seriously peaky. If it's from a TT setup it's going to choke the motor's top end.

Wrong brand man thats Suzukis because they and the owners ditch them and go buy a Honda! he was going fast, you can on a Honda with out it blowing up, Suzukis blow up. perfect example RG150, we have wrecked quitew a few as they are hand grenades!

I might be interested as long as he's not dreaming on the price. Is it a Repsol?

i asked about that and he's just not sure. it might end up going on trademe for a $1 reserve so if it does i will post a link. i mentioned to him that a certain bronze gixxer was purchased after a crash here for (if memory and rumor serves) around 6k and he seemed okayish about this price.

but when you write a check for 21k for a bike you cant even ride anymore - it will be a hard road taking 6grand for it - even if thats what it is actually worth

i'm sure you understand.

Agree but the vendor accepted some of the risk as well by allowing the test ride and if he had Insurance then he should have claimed.......the Lawyer guy would have had to stump up the excess and even offered to pay the lost Ncd.......is it me or do I see the otherside of things?

shit man. Get a damage report.. depends on the condition of the forks /radiator/ frame/ etc etc etc but he might want to think about sourcing and fixing it himself was what i was saying. That gixxer that sold could be put back on the road for a couple of grand. and it had a worked engine.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. I bought a Street Magic and it's no where near as quick as my CBR.

Should be a fairly close match, a naturally aspirated rb20 wouldn't make ~160 horses

repsol is a 21k price tag i think...

its an expensive mistake... i knew that when i wheelied the r6 over a bridge at 220kmh on my restricted licence - just that i didnt fuck up.

nope. turbos wrong. first off they are ceramic and shit. secondly they are too big for the application. well, thats what i thought when i fit one to a mates honda.

you'd need something nice and small, capable of supporting around 350-400hp and ball bearing. externally wastegated too to run low boost at high rpm.

GT25 would probably do it nicely.

deals off. he sorted it through insurance apparently.

Hey Mate,
....its all good about the bike, we managed to sort everything out.

The guy had partial indemnity coverage so that worked out well for everyone...especially me. It meant that I didn't have to pay out as much (just his excess and the subrogational value) and he was fully restituted for the bike. I still felt pretty bad though.
