As mentioned here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?p=555696#post555696) some of us had the distinct "pleasure" of seeing a full sized motorcyle riding condom on our ride yesterday up North here. :eek5:
Thank you JSG for the best eye watering laugh of the day....Sir,you've been blinged!!
Thanks Zed for the evidence mate :sherlock: :devil2:

I'm not kidding when I say that it's got to be the most insane thing I've ever seen a motorcylist do especially when 15kms later it had basically shreaded itself from him!
Pity we didn't get a snap of a certain other rider in his banana suit...or did we?:shifty:
Donations made at the door....

I did, and some of it was good advice, the rest was opinion based on gossip.
You've not ridden with me for many, many months now. Even on the last Coro Loop we were together only briefly. Maybe 5 mins the whole day.
Note how there weren't any complaints from yesterday's ride.

JSG - what happened to the other "One piece wet weather overalls" that you brought from Motomail a little while again... that could be worn over the leathers..????????? You know the outfit that you wore a lot..

JSG, just out of plain curiosity, have you ever been in a motorcycle accident of any sort? I personally don't think there is much point in leathers unless you are doing 160kmp/h +. Personally, I put more emphasis on armour type gear to prevent breakages. Who needs skin?

I wouldn't call it gossip. And most of it was based on what I know and have seen. Well, if you've read it, fine.
We were only riding near each for around 5 minutes mostly because of what I've already pointed out. I haven't read anything on yesterday's ride. If there's no complaints or comments on your riding, then it's cos you've improved and/or (dare I say) taken advice? Well, I guess in your case no news is good news then ;)

BLOODY HELL SWANNY, you need to shush... have had two accidents in teh last two months, both at aprox 45-50km, i can safely say that it is unlikely that i'll ever ride in my corduras again.
Accident No 1 - Leathers - No scratches no bruises
Accident No 2 - Cordura's - Scratches, Bruises, hurts, etc etc

Jsg was wearing the protection, because he was having his way with me.
The highlight of seeing him put it on, was the expression on everyones faces, TL had the most priceless look on his face - duc-girl just followed at a close second, a good kodak moment, but it must of slowed him down abit because I kept him in sight for awhile...

At the moment I have an Arless Ness and Spool Cordura jacket and pants, the dry rider suit from Motomail and my leathers. I needed the leathers for the kind of riding that was done yesterday.
I usually wear my leathers when I go on rides where I ride at *cough* 109kmph. The Motomail suit while commuting and the corduras for something inbetween.
How are you now? Hope you're all healed up and good now.:niceone:

The thing was pretty awkward at first so I couldn't ride properly......
Then the wind tore it to bits so it didn't matter anymore.
So how's the bike? I've never ridden a big bike before so have no idea how it is - Why don't you tell us??

Yes Swanny I crashed doing bout 130ks in the rain slowing down too quick(for my skill level) for a corner and lost the front. I would have been doing about 70-80k when the front let go. I just rolled down the road for what felt like an hour then got up and walked off. Had I not been wearing my cordura gear with hard armour I would have had a dislocated shoulder, no nose, no jaw, smashed knee, smashed elbow and bruises all over my body.
Ask any biker who's crashed what they think of a good set of leathers and they will all say they're worth their weight in gold.

Well, simply put - fucken awesome - cant flick it around so no room for error, really have to know the road or read the corner to go in at pace. Acceleration is ballistic.

Plastic bags present a suffocation hazard. Children should not try this at home.

Mate of mine tried the same shit with black plastic rubbish bags - the guys following though the were being attacked by psycho crows as the bits of black plastic tore off and flew back towards them - and the guy wearing the thing never realise he was even losing any of it until he stopped for gas and found he was wearing nothing but a necklace made out of black plastic!!!

Yeah except this wasn't a plastic bag. It's one of those waterproof jacket and pant sets you get at K-Mart.
I guess the winds get powerful at certain velocities.......:eyepoke:
Funny thing - I only noticed it as we stopped for gas and the guys pointed at my leg - I looked down to see I was wearing white plastic gaiters :killingme

Why would you bother, when the Warehouse has heavy duty waterproof leggings and jackets for $9 each? Which certainly don't tear apart at speed. And are completely waterproof. And don't look stupid.
Just get them extra large (or as many x's as you need, they come in at least xxxl I have that size , and I think xxxxl) and wear over leathers or whatever.

JSG - As we must be all tidy kiwi's.... did you go back down the same roads, after you discovered that it (plastic jacket and pants) had ripped and torn off you and went and picked up all the bits of plastic that you left shrewn all over the road... or did you leave it there for the next unsuspecting bike rider to slip on.......
I do hope you did go back and pick it all up...
How are you now? Hope you're all healed up and good now.
Thanks for asking how I am doing after my wee off.
I am getting better slowly.... got most of the bike bits ready to be assembled back on the bike again...
So by the time this damned leg brace comes off I shall be ready to ride the bike again.

No I don't eat hot curry, not all Indians do, hate chillies but love all the other spices.
Don't worry I ended up riding the last 200ks in horrible rain, even managed to catch up to TL Rider,
Was a nice quick trip home I guess all the pohleece were too cold and wet to give a damn, or that bit about radar guns not working in the rain is true.
I wasn't scared of getting myself wet - just my leathers...... as drying them is a bitch......

Perhaps it had to be raining to use the suit; I’m sure the packaging had “just add water “on it...! Or was that something about a spermicide ????
My 26 year old Banana suit worked a treat Wet Gloves and damp sox’s was the only damage.

leather all the way anything else, is just not gay enough.
But hey I dont give a fuck what you ride in not my body, but been in plenty of various crashes - with gear without gear and various gear - best protection was provided by the leathers every time.

I think Qkchk is talkin' to swanny here, with is lack of aversion to having skin. But Qkchk, ya need to emphasise YOU, not HAVE. Thusly:
....how long have YOU been riding for?
But yeah, to hell with that swanny. As a strange friend of mine used to say, show us ya skin grafts!!

I'm sick of people moaning about gear, its personal preference.
I've had several crashes; a Front tyre blow out on a corner, into a pot hole and over the bars landing square on my head, had the rear slip out and slide the bike, aside from that, I have had plenty of other push bike accidents.
I've had a layer of skin ripped off my face, the bin on Marks death trap due to his loose chain which resulted in a sore elbow and a grazed knee.
So - in summary - in all my accidents, I have learnt that the most important asset is armour, and decent armour at that. I've also learnt how to come off a bike properly too, or manage going off the road while still on the bike.
Its my personal OPINION that armour to reduce the likely hood of breakages or severe injuries is more important than a bit of skin.
Oh, my bad, this is Kiwi Biker, where no one is allowed an opinion aye...
EDIT: In saying that though, there is nothing stopping you from wearing Armour and Leathers which his a good combination. But leathers by itself is just going to save your skin, not your collar bone or knees, etc.
