View Full Version : Worth doing ?

My old 82 DR 250 is experiencing some old age problems, normally associated with bikes of it's vintage, and I was considering a rebore, with a bit of a cubic capacity increase.

Would it just be better to do the minimum, or give a good going over, and bore the bollocks out of it?. I know diddle about rejetting, and all that shit that often goes with large scale bore increases.

Any comments and suggestions appreciated

Its only worth it if your going to keep the bike for a long time because it does nothing to the resale (as i have found out) if yes then get .25 Over size and up the compression a little bit and do the valve stem seals too.

I plan on keeping it forever, so I will slowly do some work on it. Thanks crazy.

Hope you are ,thats what i said... then I rode my cousins 05 RM250 and I wanted a MX bike straight away but am still looking for a KX in my price bracket....
and another thing is the cam chain if its a bit worn you might aswell replace that to because the pain of simply putting a new cam chain in ($69) is far less than pushing a valve into your new piston!

Do you have apicture of those UFO handguards you're selling?. I need some for the DR, it has fresh air where the handguards should be.

Thanks for the advise too, I am doing the cam chain too, I reliase the importance of those little puppies.
