View Full Version : The new love of my life
Just traded-up from my GSX250 to a 98 GSX600F today, and lovin it. Got it in Palmy so first ride was back to Welly and it was awesome. After opening the throttle up for the first time (and after yelling "Holy fuck"), I was wearing a huge smile all the way back.
p.s. anyone have any advice on how to tell your wife who is away overseas on business that although you are suppose to be saving money, you've just bought a new bike?

Reduced stress levels?? I found myself far more relaxed on the 7, as I know, if I wanted, I could do anything I wanted, if I so wished.
Umm, say nothing about tyres and fuel economy... let that in very slowly, sort of slip it in :msn-wink:

It's good huh?
Next step is to learn where to use the power... and get over the "I CAN SPEED EVERYWHERE!!!!!"
It's a phase most guys go through... and you will.
Enjoy!

Congrats mate.
Don't worry bout the misses. Have a single beautiful deep red rose (or her favourite flower) sent to her wherever she is. Attach a little hand written note telling her how you miss her so much and have begun to act crazy ....... so crazy that you lost all powers of judgement:slap:

Well done and good choice. When I had a ride on one of those 600's I came to conclusion they were a very underated bike. Even did a 2 uptour on the one I borrowed.
If you use the revs, keep it up in the top of rev range, you will be very surprised with how it goes.

Put a 250 sticker on the side and make sure it has the same paint job! Failing that toughen up and take the punishment.:bash: It will be worth it :scooter:

Congrats, and Welcome to the site. Fully agree with what MDU said.... don't let the power get you into trouble.....

Hopefully you've been talking about it getting a bigger bike for a while so it's not too much of a surprise.....otherwise, you could be doing lots of favours for a while!!!

Indeed, I thought I would tell her that it is much safer as I can overtake with much more confidence!:msn-wink:

Might just work, though she will know something is up if I buy her flowers!
You sure guys go through it?
I'm with Justsomeguy on this one:stupid: I don't think I'll go through it!

Just look for a Gold Katana at the top of the Rimutakas and a guy gazing adoringly at his bike, that will be me!:niceone:

More interested in picking up technique points from the woman with the cast iron frying pan.
Overhead or round-house type of gal?

I've had a 600 for a year, and I'm not seeing any signs of getting through any phase.
OMG - I did a deal with my missus, she got a dog I got a bigger bike. Now she's got a 2nd dog I'm eyeing up an R1 (although she claims the 2nd dog was in response to the minimoto - but I can't call that a fair trade!).

well done, onb the woman and the bike. As far as i can tell, those 600Fs are pretty indestructable. I borrowed one and a two up tour at maximum rpm didnt worry it at all. (shagged the tires though)
Good to see you got an understanding missis. Im in the market for a new litre bike and couldnt care less about pillion comfort, she has her own bike and wants a faster one... bugger that 2 up idea, just slows you down.

No advice on how. Just make sure that she hears it from you first...
